Title: Hi from Tori
Post by: tori102 on August 24, 2017, 11:07:04 AM
Hi everyone, im excited to try to find a community that i can fit into.
First off, my name is Tori, im 34 and i live in north east US.
im Starting HRT in less then a month after spending my entire life feeling uncomfortable with my identity. after many years of severe depression and crippling anxiety i have gotten to the point of saying heck with it!  if i don't make a change i may not survive.  being 6'2" is my biggest hangup, and the reason i didn't start this trip 6 years ago when i first considered it in earnest.  recently i've traveled to some places that seem to have a lot of girls close to my height, comforting to know i can move if i want to fit in better.
im fairly new to online communities, never spent much time on the computer.   im hoping i can find friends, information and support for this transition.
looking forward to meeting you!
thanks for reading

Hi Tori, welcome to Susans!

I am excited you found this place.  I definitely found it's a community I fit into and I hope you will find the same.  More than just fitting in, I have learned so much about myself by getting to know others who have encountered many of the same topics and issues.  We are all unique but have so much in common.

Congratulations on heading into HRT.  I am MTF and started HRT a month ago today.  Each individual responds differently to HRT but the changes I have experienced are incredible - not much physical change yet but the difference to my perception and mindset has been astonishing.  I wish I had started much earlier but I am thankful for what I have now.

There are cisgender women who do perfectly well in your height range including a few actresses and fashion models.  It's all relative anyway - average height varies based on genetics and many other factors.  I used to think in mechanical terms like measurements and definitions, and as learn more I realize other things are much more important in making up who we really are.

This is the only online community I am active in.  This is the town I decided to move to and I like it here.  Great people.

We always provide some information to new members as Susan's Place serves a very unique purpose and has members of all ages and all gender identities.  I'll add that information here.  To keep this place welcoming and comfortable for everyone we have requirements including language.  I play in a rock band and have ridden loud motorcycles all over the US so my language can get pretty rough if I am in a biker bar but I keep certain words offline.  I recommend you should please go back and edit one particular word out of your post.

Hi Tori! I'm new here as well, meant to respond to your post sooner but someone walked in behind me and I panic closed my browser mid-post. :X

You're the first person I've noticed mention they are (essentially) my age starting transition, I was a little surprised I wasn't seeing anyone else in the mid 30s.

And about your height, you know who else is 6'2'', right? Swedish models! Seriously, my sister is 5'7'' or so and constantly complains she isn't at least a few inches taller. She's already 17 and still tries to measure her height against a door frame to detect even the slightest growth. Don't sweat being tall, it's a good thing!

Welcome and enjoy the ride! I started HRT 4 days before my 55th birthday, so it's never too late. I'm 6'2" too and still love rocking heels. Just think runway model! Watch YouTube videos of tall models, helps me to move them long legs right. Don't forget to have fun.
