Hi everubodu, i'm an italian transgender, i started with hormones just 2 weeks ago.. i would like to know your experiences about hair, cause my father is bald, my grandfather is bald, and at 30 years old, i'm starting losing hair.. i would like to know your experiences about hair.. so here my questions, please share your experiences :)))) thanks all
-how old are you and how long have you been in HRT?
-have you got any hair regrowth during HRT? Please say even if you haven't got.
-how much hair did you grow back? and for how long time did you see regrowth?
-did you grow hair in areas where you never had hair in past (temples for example)?
-Is quality and thickness of yourhair changed?
Hi, Ilary83, welcome to Susan's Place. Congratulations on starting HRT.
I am 62 years old, and I have been on HRT for seven months. I have a receding hairline and a thin spot on top. My hairline has not changed at all. The thin spot on top might be a little bit less thin, but that might just be my imagination / wishful thinking. The hair at the back and sides, where I still have quite a lot, seems to have a bit more body than it used to.
Been on HRT for about a year. I am 43. I had a bald spot, that had no hair left in it. After about 6 months it had some regrowth. I kept my hair shaved bald for most of the time after it appeared. It is now fairly well covered, but is still pretty thin. The hair is still fairly thin, but now it curls, which it didn't do in the past.
I'm 30 years old, have been on hrt for 6 months now. Before hrt my hair was receding, now I have noticeable regrowth with more still coming in. Right now some of the growth is peach fuzz while others are in full blown growth mode. That's just my hairline. The natural crease in my hair is gone and it is much thicker. I only just discovered the difference after getting my long hair cut off.
I would also like to note that I'm taking biotin in addition to hrt.

No hair loss since HRT but hair seems to have gotten somewhat thinner.
Hi ilary83,
I just turned 59 years old. I have thinning hair on the crown and front, and receding at the temples. Still very full and thick on the top, sides, and back. I was on very low dose spironolactone and estradiol starting in June, and two weeks ago went to full-dose on those, and added finasteride. I have also been using minoxidil on the crown since May. It seems like the crown is filling in slightly, and last Friday I discovered "peach fuzz" all across my upper forehead. Whether that will thicken is unknown. Note that I have always had fine, light colored hair (that's turning gray now).
I have a question for you regarding attitudes toward transgender people in Italy. I'm in the US and work with a company in Italy, and I wonder how they'll deal with my transition. I would send you personal message (PM) but due to forum rules, you can't send one back until you have 15 posts. If there are any mods watching, do you have suggestions on how to handle this? I don't want to hijack this thread.
Steph
Hi. I am 28 and have been on hrt for 1 year. I had a slight receding hairline before. Hrt has made my overall hair much thicker and has stopped the hairline from receding more, however, it has not grown back.
I was blessed with great hair but as I got older and taking medications my hair started to disappear. After a year on HRT it has rebounded quite remarkably. No hairless patches. Now a little lower than my shoulders. I have been taking supplements, and using a collagen conditioner. I am planning to make it even stronger by using henna to give it some color and strengthen it. Not the bright red but a lighter strawberry blond by using cassia along with the henna. It's all natural and contains no chemicals.
What supplements do you take, Dawn?

Natrol 10,000 mcg Biotin tablets work. Am thinking 2500 mcg daily is 100% of recommended intake though.
So can cut tabs in half if it is of concern. Am not skilled enough to quarter them. ;) Amazon has 100 count bottle for $12-$15. Not sure where you are located, but a local grocery store(Meijer) throws them on sale regularly for $5. So up to 200 days at $5 is hard to beat & it covers hair, skin & nails.
Eggs, peanuts, almonds & avocados(am sure am forgetting some others) are high in biotin as well.
