Title: Famous women who look trans
Post by: WishnHopeN on September 27, 2017, 10:54:26 PM
Passability can mean survivability in a world where being a transsexual can be fatal.

In my obsessive pursuit of that elusive thing called passable: it makes me feel better to know that there are cis gender women who don't always pass as women.

Famke Janssen and Kate Walsh to name a couple.

Also, a lot of famous, gorgeous women have big feet.  Elle MacFIERCEson has size 12 feet, Kate Winslet has size 11, Uma Thurman size 11, Paris Hilton size 11, Meg Ryan size 11, Famke size 11, Tyra Banks 11.5, Oprah size 11... all gorgeous and all have just as hard a time as me finding shoes that fit as I do.  AND some of these chix are F'ing tall.

Rock on my Amazonian wominz!

I'm just pointing this out because it would make me feel better if I read this kind of post.  Maybe it's a bit petty and appearance-centric... but still kind of soothing.

There is one in particular that looks like she used to be a guy: Cher. When she wears her stage outfits, she looks like a drag queen. Then, there is the irony. Her child "Chastity" became "Chas", a trans man.

I am not hating on either of them. I respect them for who they are.

I was really wondering about Famke Jansen. I thought maybe she was trans when I saw her on Hemlock Grove. My brother was sure she was. One thing he pointed out was that she has really big hands and feet. Plus she's like 6 feet tall. We tried to get my dad's opinion but he just said she was a beautiful woman so what did it matter.  Wet blanket much?

LOL!  I think it's totally hilarious that people would even possibly consider Famke Janssen is trans.  She played Jean Grey and Phoenix in the original X-Men movies from the early 2000's.  She was portrayed as a beautiful, sensitive, yet powerful woman and gained international fame for that role.

I suppose the younger generation doesn't know her as well since her fame and recognition has declined in the 17 years since.  Plus everyone these days seems to be playing "spot the trans woman".  Geez, it truly is harder to pass these days if even cis hollywood actresses are suspected of being trans.

My dad said she played a transwoman on some show he and my mom used to watch.

I totally agree.  She played the best Bond Girl as Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye.  She killed people by crushing them to death between her legs.  Plus she had that intense sex scene with Bond that was so violent and real that she broke ribs during filming it, and she still looked beautiful through the pain.  I still love her, and am jealous of her.

I think that Brooke Shields looks trans.  She's 6' tall, and those eyebrows...

Her feet are quite small for her size, though, only a 10 on the US charts.

At the risk of you guys getting your torches and tying me to a picnic table in the sun, I'm going to say this. I don't think she's that pretty and she's nothing exceptional. Sorry, but that's my opinion of her. Maybe when she was younger she looked better.

No problem here Julia, everybody has their own tastes.  But don't call us guys:)  I know it's gender neutral for the most part, not really mad at all just thought it was humorous.

After I saw that movie Meryl Streep was in I looked up Julia child on YouTube.  Now that poor woman looked and sounded trans for sure. I wonder if maybe she was intersexed. Then there is Hillary Swank. I don't think she's trans, just a unfortunate cis woman. She looks like a man in her face. No matter what she wears or does with her hair. It's kind of funny but when she played Brandon Teena she didn't look as much like a man as when she's her normal self.

OMG, I wasn't thinking. I'm so sorry. You all know I didn't mean anything by that. I call everyone you guys. My female friends included. I'm totally sorry ladies.

Famke I have thought she could be trans before from seeing her. But she has been in the public her entire life so I doubt one could hide her past entirely. I did not find anything on wikipedia. Her private medical records are not public. So there is that angle one never knows. It does not matter that much. Go Famke anyway. I have not seen her recently in anything. I have not had a hard look. i would guess she has also many features and mannerisms etc that would hint at female. No one except people on Susans would think about this stuff so much.

But Famke is from the netherlands. They are very big and tall on average. That means there are more tall women. And I guess if you increase the average size just a bit you get extra many really big women compared to if the average size was just a little bit lower. I try to remember when I took basic statistics. But not all tall and big women have features that hint maleish except maybe their size.

There are so many smaller women with some more male looking features. I mean broad shoulders , strong hands and a jawline. Features like that. It is not as obvious with smaller people. Go people watching at a cafe and see a stream of people go by you notice that as well. Anyone know some public person who would fit that description. Tovah Feldshuh the old mayor from walking dead.

Julia, I have to say that I agree with your dad. Also, wow! What an answer! I am very impressed. Maybe even more impressed than I am with the 'wet blanket' comment. 😊 My nieces and nephews seem bent on killing the English language, it's nice to hear a younger person who knows how to make it work for them. ;D

I think that if we look long and hard enough we will see the male in many women. Gal Gadot is very beautiful yet her forehead and brow ridge are less feminine than some of the transsexual girls I know who got ffs to fix it. Olivia Wilde is beautiful and yet I have seen angles of her jaw that I thought that she was a boy. Maybe because I don't watch, watch tv or movies, just kind of look up once and a while I tend to get snapshots of people, I see them a little different than most. It takes nothing from their looks, they are beautiful.

Maybe our job to be passable is not so much getting rid of all the tells, but to be the woman we want to be so well that the little leftover things are not noticeable. Who knows. What I do know is that people are looking for trans girls right now, and even seeing them in cis girls, if we are lucky enough to pass completely, or close to it, we should be grateful morning, noon and night.

Saskia de Brauw and Tilda Swinton really blur the lines quite often, in completely bold and stylish ways.

All the cis wome mentioned above in this post (With the exception of Tyra banks and Oprah Winfrey) have been accused of being trans at some point. You can go to YouTube and type their name followed by trans ...ex " gal gadot trans" and you will easily find one or more video where they are accused of being trans based on the analysis of their physical features.

Personally being a trans woman myself, I find this level of awareness unfavourable for ones that want maximum passability and absolute stealth. 10 years ago no one knew much about transwomen and their medical journey...but unfortunately gone are those days and now people know way too much.

Last but not the least, being accused for being trans as a cis  women vs as an actual transwomen are very different things. Also these alleged cos woman have masculine features but don't look man/trans but rather a masculine woman. The same doesnt apply for majority of the trans woman.

Julia Child was androgen insensitive which is a bit strange as she also was homophobic according to the story.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. That is strange that she would be homophobic. Maybe in her mind homosexuality hit too close to home. Since she had xy chromosomes she would technically be considered a male. That's sad. That poor woman. She did have a husband though.

There has been quite a bit of research done on that though right? Homophobic people being the most likely to be homosexual. Not that it's the same thing but it is still an inner demon or something she struggled with. Seems to me there is a human nature lesson to be learned there if someone had the smarts and the courage to face their own inner demons enough to work it through.

If this sort of thing was discovered on a non trans site, the trans community would likely outraged.. Why is it acceptable here? Who are we to judge, when we'd rather not be judged ourselves? Aren't we better than this?

I realise this was probably meant to be fun, but all too often I see the trans community take a very small thing, often intended as humour, and turn it in to the Spanish Inquisition.

Hi Kelly,

I personally do not care for this topic but I cannot see where it actually is violating any of our Terms of Service.

I will offer this thought about it though.
I would feel uncomfortable if I knew people were voicing unsolicited opinions on how masculine I looked. I already have that argument in my own head when I look into a mirror. I see it when I'm clocked everyday I'm out in public.  Everyone has their personal image issues and having them discussed is hurtful.
These people are not transgender so why should they be compared to us?

This is just my 2 cents on the subject and I hope it's been well spent.

Hugs,
   Laurie

I have finally caught up with this topic and to be honest I am saddened and disappointed.

I thought we were better than this.
I thought we had standards and honesty in our appreciation of people.
I thought we had respect for people.

Instead I read insults of people. Mocking of people.

I think people should be ashamed.

I feel a bit sad.

I'm locking the topic and maybe people should reflect on how they wish to be seen by others.

You treat people as you would be treated. It is a basic tenant in all religions and in life.
