I was talking regarding this... I know some may remember.
So short story long, I was SO close, I had my surgeon set, I liked them... then they switched me because he had family issued. I was then marked as a "transvestitie / crossdresser" and the new surgeon thinks that I was transitioning because of a fetish all because I wanted a working clit!
OP on the issue below click URL

So in her marking me as a ->-bleeped-<-, my surgery was for sure denied, and I even confirmed it. My transition team didnt work quick enough I guess? But things have been switched back to "Male" on my insurance. My new insurance card will reflect that (I get a new one every November).
AND because I am now in their eyes just a crossdressing ->-bleeped-<- male, I have lost my doctor (who was female) and resassigned my old male doctor whos a complete tool.
He has halted my refills on Estrogen, despite what my endocrinologist has warned. My primary care doctor knows NOTHING of HRT, and has stated it, and stated OPENLY he does not agree with even the idea of it.
So basically they are forcing me to detransition.
I am looking for other insurance that I can actually afford right now. Which is a hard thing to do :,(
I got kicked from MediCal because I make too much, but I cant afford much either way. And my insurance through work is the insurance company I DON'T want... the one thats ABUSING ME here.
Is there a counsellor I should be talking to regarding any of this? Does anyone know what steps I should take right now?
Wow! Awful. I can only imagine the pain you're feeling.
If I were you, I think there's only two solutions:
1. Find a new gender therapist, and start from scratch.
2. Move. To another county, state....whatever it takes. I realize you have a job, but I'd be sitting with HR, telling them what happened, and seeing if they can transfer you.
Don't give up, but there's nothing you can really do about what's happened. Just start over.
Why did they label you as a ->-bleeped-<-??

you can read my original post on the situation... but the surgeon asked a very inappropriate question and I reacted negatively which made her label me as such.
That's appalling. It sounds like you need a lawyer, not just a doctor.

This. LAWYER UP!
That is indeed horrible and i would get an attorney as soon as possible and make them pay for such actions. You have every right and need to be on HRT and taking you off it is endangering your health. So look at all options, different insurance, free clinics, LGTBQ legal and financial aid organizations etc. There is help out there.
I would not step once into that doctors office.
Heck, my GCS doctor asked specifically about the level of sex i would be having and how important that was to me etc. There is no reason you should have been marked as such.
Who was the doctor?

That sounds awful. I'm sorry! I'm with the others, get a lawyer ASAP!
Concerning getting a lawyer; why? Just get a new doctor.
Many years ago, psychologists were acting as gate keepers. If they diagnosed transsexual, then you could get SRS. If not, then you had no recourse. Today, things are different. Just find a psychologist trained in gender issues and tell them what you are. Trans gender issues are largely self diagnosed. Gate keeping as practiced from the past is largely discredited. You need to know yourself and psychologists can help, but the decision is really up to you.
As for the surgeon, do you really want someone operating on you that has such an uninformed knowledge of trans issues? Also, from your original post, clitorplasty is done at the same time as vaginoplasty, not as a separate procedure and some surgeons can do the labiaplasty as well in what is known as a one step procedure.
I wish you the best in dealing with your issues, but I really think that a new doctor is what you need.
First, new primary care doctor. It's hard to believe this happened in California. :(
Second there is no reason a surgeon should get to change a diagnosis of a treating endocrinologist or a therapist/psychologist. Why doesn't your endo fill the prescription? Maybe call their office and let their nurse know what has happen to you.
Challenge why they moved you to a different principle physician. It makes no sense for an insurance company to force you back to an old PCP if you were now seeing a new PCP.
Secondly, find a lawyer if you want who will take this up as a malpractice suit. They endangered your health and wellbeing by denying your HRT and caused some pretty severe emotional distress.
Yeh, you definately do not want a surgeon who had plans to mutilate you. Her very plan contradicts every surgeon trained in the field of SRS.
Also who was this surgeon and where was she practicing? Telling others might save a lot of harm from happening.
You are in California. You have rights. Get a lawyer. And make a complaint to the state insurance commissioner.
