It's my first down day in 5 months, I had to have one eventually!
A heady mix of some GD, unhappiness with my weight/shape in the mirror this morning and an extra dose of useless medical care courtesy of the NHS.
These conspired to make me retrench from a great opportunity at work, and I've just turned down a nice evening out with friends so I can hide away at home on my own [emoji853].
I'm going for a long swim in a bit to generate some endorphins that might pick me up a bit.

I'm sorry to hear that Megan
I hope you enjoy your swim. You can't beat a bit of exercise to help get your head back in to a good place

Tnx hun, rough with the smooth, that's life I guess.

I am sure you'll get it worked out Megan. Hang in there, Megan, talk to someone and get it out to look at so you can tackle it. I wish I could be more encouraging for you.
I'm sorry to hear that Megan. I hope that exercise makes everything more palatable. If it helps, I love reading your updates. I know GD is a killer, and rears its head at very inopportune times. The thing that is getting me through surprise GD attacks is that I am doing something to change myself to get to where my GD won't be there, or at least not as monstrous. I see you doing that with the exercise, that's great. I do the same with an elliptical and hula hoop.
Tnx all, it's comforting knowing the Susan's gang is here [emoji5].
The GD thing is silly, I've gone several months with almost none, I log onto the intranet at work today and there's a great picture of our new female CEO looking fab, and WHAM, why that, why today?? Sux
Hula hoop sounds fun, bet that's good for the obliques?

Hah, I get GD from coworkers too. There's three itty bitty girls that work here that I love to be around, but I'm always comparing myself to them. I could never, never diet enough to be that small, plus they are young, hot, Eef, trifecta.
Hula is fun. Im not sure what area it targets, just that it makes me tired and it gives me a silly feeling. I love those feelings.

What's hula hoop?
It's a big ring you get to swing around your waist by shaking your booty. Do a search on you tube:)

Oh ok. That's.....interesting.
But there are other kinds of workouts you can do that don't make you look like....well, a spaz.
Thank you Julia for cheering me up and making me laugh. Spaz or not, if it tightens my waist, I'll do it!
2km in the pool done, endorphins pumping, feeling better. [emoji16]

Julia the Hula Hoop was introduced as a toy way back when. It just happened to also be good exercize. Kids would get together and see how many they could get going at once and did the hooping on different parts of the body too. Like the neck, arms, legs as well as the normal place at the waist. They even held competitions with them.

Ok! I've been wrecking my brain trying to remember where I had heard the world hula hoop. Now I remember! It was from one of my grandmas god awful Christmas records! It was from the chipmunks Christmas album. Yeah, I said chipmunks Christmas album. :icon_yikes: I was at her house last year helping her with her tree and she was playing her Christmas records. Actual records that are made out of plastic! When that awful chipmunk song played for the third time I asked if she had an ice pick because sticking it in my ears would hurt less than that horrible song. But that's where I heard "hula hoop".

Sorry you didn't like the song but it was pretty common for a long time. The records where recorded at half speed with a male singing all 3 parts and then replayed at normal speed giving it that different sound (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_and_the_Chipmunks).
Can we be a bit more feeling with language please.
Spaz - From spastic, the disability.
Means a person that acts insane or mentally retarded
I don't think that in this day and age that the use of such a phrase is warranted.

I'm sorry Cindy. I didn't realize it had such negative meanings. Everyone at school used it. I apologize if it offended anyone.
My apologies, I should certainly know better!
