Title: After SRS/GRS/GCS, how often is Testosterone replacement needed?
Post by: JennJenn on October 03, 2017, 06:13:31 PM
What are typical levels of testosterone after the surgery?  Are they in the normal female range or too low?  I've read too low of T in females can cause lots of problems like hair loss etc.  However is testosterone cream needed? I've read many posts from women that have had hystorectomy (ovaries removed or not) having to supplement with testosterone.

Many of us produce testosterone within the normal feminine range. I am at 36 ng/dl with 14 to 76 being acceptable however like CIS women, some of us have much lower levels. My testosterone is produced elsewhere in the body as it would be after a hysterectomy. The best approach for you would be to wait several months after surgery and have your testosterone levels checked. If they are low, you don't have to supplement them but if your sex drive is low, it might be a consideration.
