Our own Laurie has a powerful wanderlust, but I'm sure she's not the only one.
I've been on my own road trip where the journey was also the destination (below). Please share on this topic about any road trips or other adventures you've had (intended or unintended) where it was all about the journey.

Well, it wasn't my trip, but my big brother just drove all the way across Canada, coast-to-coast, 6400 km each way, to visit his sister (me) for the first time. We had a lovely visit. He and his partner are on their way home now.
Makes my teary just thinking about it!
Makes my trip from Virginia to southern Florida look pretty lame... Spent 7 days in the car with stops on the way to meet up with long time friends we had not seen in a while...

Hi girls 🙋 After graduating high school my brother, his large dog and I traveled from SF Bay Area north to Canada in a VW bus. Met a guy in Seattle that was going to Asheville NC, he joined us. Met two gals in BC going to Ottawa, they jumped on board too. After 2 mths and many adventures we made it to Ottawa. Headed south to NC to drop off the first guy then headed west to Home. 4 months in all. Countless memories!!
Smiles, Jessica 💁
I'll never forget the day
We motored stately into big L.A.
The lights of the city put settlin'
Down in my brain
Though it's only been a month or so
That old car's buggin' us to go
We've gotta get away and get back on
The road again

I have probably been on 50 to 100 road trips (something that includes more than half a dozen states) during my adult life. Until three years ago they were coping mechanisms and the road was where I wanted to be, not the destinations and avoided people contact, a safe place to hide and burn off anger and pain. Since coming out I still love road trips but now it is all about the destinations and people/relationships.......so much better!
(https://i.imgur.com/3WjINES.jpg) MIG and spotwelder and a lot of grinding!!!!!!!! and yes Bedfordshire maybe.
Well, it was for work, but the trips were interesting. I drove to conventions all around the country (from my starting point in Kansas): LA, San Jose, Denver, Dallas, Austin, Cedar Rapids, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Atlanta, Raleigh, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Boston. Sometimes the same city multiple times a year. I think I racked up over 100k miles in 4 years.
I was with the same friend / co-worker for most of these trips, and we'd often wander out of our way to see the sights (unbeknownst to our employer >:-) ). We saw the Grand Canyon, the Sequoia National Park, Niagara Falls, and lots of others. I don't miss the conventions all that much, but I do miss the trips.

Can't recommend Wales. I lived there off and on for 38 years before I escaped to the USA.
The difference between a professional welder and an amateur is the professional uses an angle grinder.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171007/049cf31f68d73d23962ce35a0994bdbb.jpg)
I am an amateur. I've been converting a school bus into a motorhome. My aim is to escape as myself for girlie trips.
