Update. I got a call from one on my transition team. One who was actually working with me. He is trans himself (FtM- AND just like me gay) We were suppose to have about about 1/4 an hour on the phone, and well. I ended up crying with him on the phone. This was earlier last week. About Thursday or so October 5, I got a call. "Hey Jessilynn, I want you to meet this new surgeon. Your surgery is on hiatus still. But we are working on getting it reversed."
Friday morning I spoke with the new surgeon over Skype. He talked about many reasons WHY the other surgeon was full of crap. First off, the stress it'd cause on the body to keep reopening areas that have healed. Secondly, the increased risk of infection with each surgery. Thirdly an immense amount of scar tissue that has the potential to form, and NOT look well. And LASTLY! The cost to the hospital itself. The cost to have a patient come back 3 times AFTER the original surgery for a grand total of 4.
I was afraid to say it, as to why I want a working clitoris as well. But he beat me to the punchline. "Plus I doubt you are wanting to become who you REALLY are, and just look at it and pee out of it. I am sure you want it to be as functional as we can make it."
He was cracking jokes for our long ass introduction meeting! And yeah some may have considered them "offensive" if they were overly sensitive, in fact I am willing to bet most WOULD find them quite offensive. I did not. Because he was gung-ho. Through the jokes, he had this "LET'S DO THIS!" attitude. He was showing pictures of his work, and honestly... I think I am very comfortable with him (which for me is odd because I am NOT normally comfortable around men).
We might have this figured out. But we still need to lift that hold.
And yes, I do have people willing to get involved if they need to, I have lawyers in my family (at least the extended half).
I'd venture that's a bit more than just a glimmer Jessi, glad to see you working with someone who gets it.
And yeah, I'm generally far more likely to be comfortable with people somewhere in the queer spectrum.

I just prayed every night by a red candle for this. For someone like me.... if I did not get this surgery. I would NOT survive to see 30 had I been fully denied. And I expressed that to trans dude who spoke with me. But this surgeon is also trying to get his nose dirty in the beurocratic bull crap of it all. Because he seems to really be on my side.
I am so happy to read this after your previous thread!
This is great news! Is the new surgeon in any way working for the same organization as the old surgeon? If not, you may still want to hire a lawyer. At the very least you should be reporting this incident to the board of medicine so she isn't allowed to butcher anyone else. Also, it would be good to know who it was so others can request someone else.
That's awesome Jessilynn. I'm so glad something positive happened to you after your awful experience with the other surgeon
Having the right people on your side is half the battle so hopefully good things will continue to come your way
Good news. Hope it all works out :)
I'm hoping all is well with this. And that things go as planned. No more hold up's, no more halts
Great news!! I hope everything goes well for you.
Woo Hoo!
High five!
I got a letter well... email welcoming me to the transitions team. Which I BELIEVE means I am back on for surgery. It had a bit of info on my surgeon, and his team. I am guessing this means I have to go in for another status update, and consult? Last time, they sent that email out to me, I had to go in, and they played down there, like checking for usable skin, hair removal progress... stuff like that.
Not looking forward to that. I swear more people have seen down there than I care to >_<
But still.... this seems like good news. So I will take the abuse.
*crosses fingers/ praying to Lilith*

Is it required that you need laser hair removal or something like that down there for SRS?

It depends on the procedure and the skin you have available. My PI surgery only used the penis to construct the vagina and it was hair free. If the scrotum is required to gain the needed depth, hair removal may be required to avoid hair in the vagina. This is a good reason to learn early what the doctor requires long before surgery so you are ready at the time of surgery. The new code word for this type of clearing on the site is South Pole.
I did something like 16 hours of genital electrolysis, didn't want laser as it takes more clearings to be considered permanent and most of my hair isn't well suited to laser anyway. I just read my surgical notes which said that any remaining follicles were handled during the procedure by electrocautery. It couldn't have been too many as my procedure was only 2.5 hours and Dr Wittenberg was unassisted -- damn that girl's fast.
My electrologist probably went farther than she needed to, I have a permanent Brazilian not complaining as I like it better this way and it will save me a lot of time on waxing. Then again, I was covered on insurance so while I had to pay up front, I don't mind being nice and bare on the insurance company.
Wow laser/electrolysis in the scrotum?? That has got to hurt a lot!
I had my first genital laser about 3 weeks ago. I have a diagram given to me by my surgeon. It hurt way less painful than I thought it would and I think mainly because I am not particularly hairy. I know my surgeon will do a follicle scrape. I am unable at this stage to find anyone who does genital Electrolysis in Adelaide so I may be relying on Laser and a follicle scrape

Scrotum wasn't so bad, crease of the crotch/thigh was very damned sensitive and the lower part of the perineum, approaching anus sucked real bad.
But I have a pretty high pain tolerance so ultimately I weathered it ok, better than growing hair in my vagina.
