Title: Hello Ladies from the Garden State!
Post by: ValleyGirl on October 09, 2017, 08:53:58 PM
Wanted to give a warm greeting to a very resourceful forum that's been around for many year.  I started my journey back in 2009, before the days of Caitlyn Jenner, Jazz, and where Trinidad was the capital of transgender.  It was a difficult time to transition with minimal resources and very little to none insurance coverage, back then where girls had to DIY.  It's a total shock how fast time went by and how much trans health progressed!  I started hormone treatment 4 years ago and I'm still in the early and long road of SRS recovery.   I had the privileges to meet the greatest woman out there who paved the way for us ladies, Miss Marci Lee Bowers.  This has been a remarkable journey and brings tears with the accomplishments and achievements over the years.  Never give up or lose faith, this is the most difficult and life changing adventure that will have a big payout in the future.

Welcome to Susan's Place. While there aren't many of us on the site, some of us transition a bit farther back. A few even transitioned before my surgical date in 1982. Often post surgical member are in short supply and that sometimes makes it difficult for transitioning members to find the information they need. Feel free to join in the conversation and if there is anything we can help you with, let us know.

Hello ValleyGirl, welcome to Susan's!

I am MtF in Seattle.  My first awareness this was even possible was in the late 1970s.  The small town I am from had essentially zero diversity - all the way through grade school and high school I wasn't aware of a single LGBT individual anywhere.  But then one my favorite musicians who had recorded "Switched On Bach" on an early Moog synthesizer was interviewed in Playboy Magazine - Walter Carlos had become Wendy Carlos.  Although I hated what happened to me with puberty I didn't realize there were clinical solutions, even after discovering there was someone out there who had done this.  The concept was too abstract for me at the time.  But that knowledge did start gradually chipping away at my perceptions... and now here I am.

Great to see you here!
