I don't know where this has come from? Personally not noticed anything major happen myself regarding trans people in the UK. I'm honestly more worried about US trans people at the moment with that wotsit in power taking away major safety barriers for trans people, it's disgusting. I think that article is trying to make something out of nothing. Of course trans people are way more likely to be victims of hate and discrimination but I don't believe this has escalated recently. Let me know if I'm wrong and have somehow missed a massive thing here.

Trans people still aren't treated great here. The way to get care through the NHS is appalling; if treatment for any other medical condition had the same amount of wait times and hoops to jump through; they'd be national outrage. The media coverage of us has gotten better but is still mainly poor and not entirely accurate. You still get the odd newspaper article that thinks treating us with respect and decency is something to argue about. Teresa May has talked about demedicalising the way trans people can apply for a new gender; but other trans people have said there has to be a catch; so something to look forward too. Not sure if hate attack statistics on LGBT people has only appeared to have risen because more people have reported incidents.

NHS care is very mixed,  waiting times and lack of any therapeutic services fail to address mental health entirely. But stick with the system and play their game,  you get HRT funded for the rest of your life,  some hair removal up to a value of £1575 and GRS funded too.
Socially, I've been full-time for 6 months and haven't had one negative experience at work or out in public, restaurants,  pubs,  garages,  shops,  swimming pools,  never a problem. British tolerance is good overall,  though I'm sure there are better and worse areas,  like anywhere.

I expected the link to lead to an article about the British transgender woman who was recently granted asylum in New Zealand because she suffered as a trans woman in Britain.

I've seen that one too. Again,  I can't identify with having to shop in the middle of the night for safety.

Have not noticed any hostility whatsoever myself here. British people on the whole mind their own business. It's certain communities with non-native cultures that have recently been filmed actively harassing LGBT individuals on their "turf".

General non-embracing of trans stuff, snide remarks etc. could happen to anybody at any time for just about anything. We can't go around policing people's opinions. What matters is what they actually do. If they go out of their way to hector or attack someone, that's breaking the law. Hate crime laws here are draconian already (you can literally go to prison for a joke or off color comment made at the wrong people here) so I don't want to see that particular noose tightened any further.
