Title: Gender dysphoria from work clothes
Post by: Sinead on October 23, 2017, 05:57:46 AM
For the record, I'm transgender mtf - closeted. Does anyone else find their gender dysphoria gets worse when they have to wear smart clothes, there's something about a work clothes (shirt and suit trousers) that makes me hate myself, and makes me desire to want to be a woman even stronger, I just come across as a typical male in them, it's the worst feeling. I literally can't wait to finish work in the evening so I can come home and put my bra on (if no-one's home) and a pair of leggings.

Feel free not to reply, this is more of a rant than anything else

I sometimes have told wear safety gear for work, vest, hard hat.  The hat has my boy name in it.  That gets to me each time.

I had to wear a full suit for a business meeting last year,  I almost had a panic attack.

Uhh.... yes. I know exactly how this feels. I basically run from the customer to my hotel to change.

A week later I ended up telling them I am trans so i don't have to deal with this anymore.

I know this does not work for everyone but you can still wear a lot of female things under your work cloths (I did that in the beginning, anything from bodysuits, thin bras, panty hose and panties). That at least helped for a while since I could feel the girl cloths underneath and I knew I was at least partial wearing them...

I've started wearing knickers under my boxers, which does help with the dysphoria, but i just feel so uncomfortable in work clothes

Surely there are many occupations that have gender neutral uniforms. My ramp job at Delta was one example. Have since seen many female construction engineers wearing same mandatory long slacks (jeans) and safety gear . . . trick is expressing "en femme" naturally, without the aid of outer attire!!

My nic at work was 'ponytail' and, from a distance, was mistaken as my target gender on many occasions!! I understand yer just ranting . . . what kinda work you do??

Yeah that does sound crappy.
I get the same feeling wherein my work clothes.
They are dirty rags, and steel toecaped boots. I feel real feminine in that :/
I have been doing this every day for the past 6 years. It ends in December 💕

Last year I had a fun thing happen (not really work) but I was working on top of my roof, fixing a few things and thought it would be fun to do it while wearing breast forms under my crappy work cloths... a couple of college aged girls walked by and I overheard them: "I want a chest like that"... I had to laugh so hard, I almost fell off the roof... In the end I still did all the work with breast forms. Only worry was for them falling out...

Comfort by the way depends on the brand / style. Not sure I would wear thongs under work cloths, Hipsters seem to be OK for me.

Luckily I work from home, so my "Work clothes" are way more feminine than a lot of peoples work clothes. ha ha.  And as such, I greatly look forward to "work".  And getting done with work and going out on the town with my wife, means feeling the need to ditch my skirts and yoga pants and things, and put on my womens skinny jeans and girly shirts.  So I luckily don't have to go out in boy mode entirely, but just not quite comfortable at this stage in going out in full femme.  Once I get me a good wig that I like so I can cover my bald head, I think I will start being way more comfortable.  Been on HRT for over 3 months, and changes are definitely happening, as well as psychological changes that make me realize women come in all different shapes, sizes, and levels of attractiveness.  I AM a woman.  So why am I so paranoid about going out looking like one?  It's so weird!

PS.... A lot of times when I do work on our house, like constructing or tearing down walls, or plumbing work and things, I have a "work skirt" that I love to wear.  It is a dark blue pleated knee length skirt that had a small tear in it, so I decided to use it as a work skirt.  And it feels so amazing to wear it when I do house work.

I recently got rid of all my suits and more than half of my regular guy clothes.  Body changes made them not fit at all, but I really felt kind of icky when I tried them on, so I guess my answer is yes.  I'm having a harder and harder time keeping the girl somewhat subdued and finding myself doing naughty things like wearing mascara even when I'm doing guy things.  Can't help it.  Guy clothes just don't feel right even for the same type (guy jeans and T's vs girl skinnies and T's), especially when I have to wear construction boots.  Don't know if I can keep this up at all after srs in Feb.  Yikes!

I so relate. I think for me because I still need a wig and also my nose.. And body hair too. I guess it's a lot of things I'm uncomfortable about still.

My work clothes are gender neutral but have been wearing bra and panties since beginning of the year and home made fillers (toe of tights filled with lentils) for 3months . Working on my VW panel van on days of wearing work clothes (grinding welding ) I have worn my breast forms and TBH cant wait to wear them to work but they don't show that much under uniform sweatshirt, still not long and a wig will be added-----
