I was excited to see an e-mail from the court today. I have my hearing date for my official name change!!!!! So is there anything I should be aware of for this hearing? I have only been to traffic court so what can I expect? I am very excited and a little scared too. I was honest with all my information and why I wanted to the name change so, I don't see a reason why they would not grant it. :)
For mine it was basically swearing under oath that I wasn't doing this to defraud anyone. My judge was really great about it, not everyone has the same experience though.
Big hug! They do them administratively here in Massachusetts, I didn't have to attend anything.
I put down my reason for the name change on the application and the court order came in the
mail 100 days later, properly gendered and all. :) Best wishes!
Hugs, Devlyn
I have my day in front of the judge November 22. I have no idea what it will entail, but it should be relatively painless. From what I understand it's mostly present you documents that you did the required steps (publish, judgement check, etc) testify that you are not defrauding and done. I hope it goes well for you.

In Indiana there is a packet of forms, some you submit when filing and one you need the day of the hearing. Bring a copy (original too) of your birth certificate and your driver's license. They wanted copies for the files.
