Title: Update (nearly) 4 months
Post by: Daniellekai on November 11, 2017, 11:09:45 PM
Really starting to see changes now, a non-male shape is happening slowly, which I can conveniently hide under winter clothes for now.  I haven't gained much weight, but old pants that were previously about 2 sizes too big are now quite comfortable, and stay up even without a belt, still seems loose around the waist, so I have to attribute it to fat migrating to thighs and butt (TMI I'm sure)... I'm cold as hell all the time, but previously would wear T-shirts all winter long and be perfectly fine indoors, just threw on a coat with sleeves when I went outside. Now I layer up and I'm still freezing.  Therapist mentioned my voice has changed a bit, unexpected, but I certainly don't mind, based on some off the cuff comments other people have noticed too, but don't know the significance.

I'm going to attribute this one to improving mood, but an out of place compulsion to clean things comes over me sometimes, like weekly dust, vacuum, that sort of  thing, not an OCD thing.  I'd clean before, but only when things were really dirty, or absolutely needed to be clean (such as kitchen).  I haven't really had the flood of new emotions I've heard about, but I was pretty likely to cry at movies and things before anyway, so it could just be that I don't notice, I do notice myself processing other people's emotions more thoroughly, and accurately, hard to explain.

Never going off hormones though, I'm so much happier, even if I don't always show it, I can't describe how much better off I am, it's like I was just moving along before living and not much else, and now I'm actually "here".  I expect an even more drastic improvement when I stop hiding eventually. :P

I am almost 5 months on HRT and I get the cold thing I was finding the mornings cold in august I am at home recovering from a { non related surgery } I have the electric blanket on constantly  I havent seen any gain on the hips but I have been loosing considerable weight since starting HRT I have seen growth up top but I took measures to conceal that by switching to bib type overalls at work a year before starting transition I also started wearing loose denim shirts over my T shirts  I'm hoping these will help hide the changes until I decide to come out maybe some of these ideas can help you or others in this stage of transition
I also found almost immediate improvement in my brain and now can cry at a drop of a hat

OMG, the cold!  I had no idea that could be the hrt.  I'm pretty much right at the stage you are, only I've always been a little cold, bow I'm an icicle!

Other people have even commented to wear a scarf and hat, teasingly, but I am going to start.  The cold is real and it's brutal.

Yup same here,  I was never cold before, now I wear three layers just to sit in a modern office,  crazy!

My wife is always complaining about being cold.  She'd like to cuddle up to me to warm up.  Recently, she observed that I was actually colder than she was.  "Must be the estrogen," I said.

I also get emotional more easily.  At yesterday's Remembrance Day service, an old veteran sang "The White Cliffs of Dover", and it gave me a serious case of the sniffles.

I am glad that you are feeling and enjoying the changes, Danielle.  If you liked the emotional changes from HRT, wait until you go full-time.  You will love not hiding!  I never felt this happy in my "before" life.

I'm right around the 4 month mark too and am definitely experiencing the cold! I think the estrogen is part of it, but also I lost about 100lbs in the last year, so that's less a lot less fat to keep me warm lol. Another thing I was thinking of was body hair. I never really kept it fully shaved before but now it's been a while since I've had it grown out
