We recently changed insurance companies. Out new company wants a copy of our marriage certificate to maintain our married couple discount. Same sex marriage has been legal here for more than a decade. Do they ask ALL married couples for proof or are they discriminating against same sex couples?
More to come when we find out.

April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!
Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

It may not be discrimination at all. When my wife and I married in 1997 we both kept our last names and my wife's legal first name (she goes by her more feminine middle name) is very androgynous. Way before I transitioned, the next company I worked for, the insurance company asked for a copy of our marriage certificate. I inquired why and they said because we had different last names.

We've had the same last name since 1981 so I doubt that's it. Other than that, who knows.

My company did an insurance audit a couple of years ago. I had to produce my marriage certificate even though my ex had been on my work insurance for 7 years prior. The explanation given was an attempt to fight fraud.
