Hi, I'm Megan, and I have a secret to share...
This might be controversial, but I normally only like crispy/dry meringue, and only tollerate the sticky/gooey inside. Do you have a preference?

Well, the outside must be well browned, doesn't it?
Meringue...it always looks so tempting and perfect...yet it's often unfulfilling with a disappointing texture.
Good ol' American whipped cream for me.
Hugs, Devlyn
Ewww I don't like meringue. Yuck!
I'm not keen on meringue though if it's coupled with the lemon stuff it's a bit of a winner. I guess it's like having Brussel sprouts at Christmas, kind of when mixed with roast turkey it all makes sense and I can relax.
I have an Aunt who makes the most amazing Pavlova's with crispy meringue, that then moves into marshmallow...chewy...caramel...joy. I like to make them but they are so bad for you(and me) sugar and eggs!!! but what a combination...the worst of course the pint of whipped cream to go on top along with your favourite fruit and flake sprinkles...something like this

I'm with Devlyn on this one.
In general I'm not down with the egg whites.

Well browned meringue, please..... only on lemon pie.... otherwise worthless
Meringue's about the only thing in any pâtisserie I won't eat.
Isn't it supposed to be crispy though?
I shall form a crispy meringue separatist movement, rise up my brothers and sisters! We shall overthrow the bourgeois oppressors!
We'll build a new world with crispy meringue exalted above all other unhealthy sugary confection. [emoji23]

😂 not hated from this end... just second best part of lemon meringue... wait, no, the pastry can be pretty good😊
Oh, wait, erm.... can I join?
I rarely have meringue, but I like it firm/gooey with only a little crispness on the outside.
@broage, of course! You're right the conflict and anguish that comes from the nectar that is lemon meringue pie is a hard burden to bare.

Thanks Megan, I shall go thence forthwith, whisk in hand, with the sole purpose of making egg whites fluffy and dry😊
Meringue is just a big bite with nothing there.
<I think that may not be original>

Gotcha, I'm now in Briarne of Tarc mode and will not stop until most gooeyness has been stifled☺️
OMG there are actually people who don't like meringue??!
I mean good all the more for me. Also no accounting for taste.
Texture, geeze I like it every way except burnt. When I make a meringue pie (usually lemon or bitter orange) I absolutely lick the utensils and bowl clean. I make my meringue beating eggwhites in a copper bowl with a pinch of salt to create the acidity needed.
Texture, for a pie I prefer gooey -- crispy just makes it too hard to cut.
For meringues baked for their own sake, ideally crisp out, gooey inside. Too much crispy causes crumbling and I prefer my meringue on my tongue to on my outfit!
Hmm, I think it's time to make some meringue and spread it raw on my GF and then eat her it!
Sadie, lovely to hear our movement grows.
I don't have anyone to spread meringue on (volunteers?), but that sounds like a good way to enjoy it [emoji3]

Ok then.. I think meringue might be ok on its own... still better with lemon but definitely should have a second and possibly third ingredient. That's my thoughts☁️☁️🌩
Only really on lemon pie, find it a bit sweet so needs to be with sharp tasting fruits
I loved my grandma's lemon meringue pie!!!!
I haven't found one that is comparable since she passed, about 4 years ago. So, now, I'll tolerate meringue. Nobody makes it like grandma did, not even my mom.
I'm betting when my time comes, grandma will be waiting at the pearly gates for me with a big ole' lemon meringue pie, all for me!!!!!
I've never had good meringue from a store bought pie. However I've made it before for a homemade creme de menthe ice cream pie and it was great. If memory serves, the only ingredients for the meringue was egg whites powdered sugar, lemon juice and creme de menthe sprinkled on when frozen for effect.
I kept thinking I did it wrong since this tasted good and every other meringue I had was yucky.
Crispy meringue is especially yucky to me. I want my meringue like cool whip.
