I had a bad day yesterday, I have two of three dogs in the vets one with snake bites and the other ate the snakes head so has venom working through his small intestine. I spent Most of the day crying. I think they'll be ok though. My dogs are great, they've never judged me, they never needed an explanation when I must've started smelling different to them. One in particular has a very close bond with me, he's so clumsy and stupid and eats everything hence his predicament.
They're all rescue dogs. I'm. Not even sure where this post is going. I hope they come home.
They've helped me through my depression, dysphoria then with coming out to my wife.
Siobhan 😢
I hope that both of your dogs pull through. Dogs really are the best friends that anyone ever has.
Big hug! I'm pulling for your furbabies. What are their names?
Hugs, Devlyn
Thank you both x Harley and Amy with Jet still ok.
Sending healing thoughts for your puppers.
Were to able to identify the snake to get anti-venom?
Sorry to hear that Siobhan, I hope they're all OK
Charlotte x
I also send my best dog healing thoughts.
I will admit to a special bond with my rescued pets - it was they who found me.
Siobhan
Sending good and healing thoughts your way from me and my little blind rescued kitty
Hugs!!!

Hi All, big improvements over night , Harley's heart rate dropped by almost 2/3rds late yesterday but has picked up this morning and Amy the snake killer is in good shape, no clotting issues in either, another test this morning apparently there are three different toxins and they seem to be free of two of them. I'm hopeful that they could be back home later all being well. Thanks for all your thoughts it's really made a difference ,I was crying uncontrollably yesterday. It's just good to talk to you all.
Much love
Siobhan x
Glad to hear the positive news. I often find myself caring more about animals than people.
Dogs give unconditional love, it would be nice if all people could be so generous. X

Wouldn't it just Megan! I'm the same even with the snakes ( I've had to grab more than a few to save them!) ( though not usually the venomous ones).. I feel exhausted and I feel that though I've rescued them they have me too.

I shall Ashley, and thanks 😀😘😴
As far as I know ingesting snake venom isn't harmful, only injected is it toxic. It will be broken down by the liver and digestion processes and won't get a chance to do the damage it is designed for.
Healing thoughts from my fur baby to yours. They will pull through and your bond with them will be even stronger,:)

Thanks Victor, yes it's not always as bad as apparently the release through the small intestine is slower but the fangs and glands were both swallowed and it and any scratches or ulsers can make it very serious. I don't know if this depends on the toxins involved this snake has 3 types. His ck went pretty high and his Hr dropped to 48bpm from 120. The vet was worried and was unsure So contacted a specialist. Scary!
True, swallowing small bones certainly isn't good for dogs and don't always get destroyed by the stomach. But in general I think dogs fare better with the bones and teeth of snakes and small birds than they would with swallowing big bones and sharp objects they have chewed up. Here's hoping your dog pulls through.
Thanks Victor 😀, and it seems they're able to come home I need four hours 😊😊😊😊
Siobhan!
I'm hoping your little ones are back to running around and causing trouble today!.. With of course, suitable breaks in between for food and naps!
Hugs!

Thanks Jessica, they're both home and well and we are looking into ways of scaring the snakes off.
