I'm out the rest of the way!!!!!!!!!!! And so far, the outpouring and love and support has been amazing. Which, for me, as many of you know is completely a surprise. For those who don't know, I am surrounded by the strict Mormon culture, a not very LGBT friendly culture. Family's Mormon, I live in Mormonville, Utah... etc etc etc... Plus I have 'my way or the highway' parents. So to have so many people show support and love, unconditionally, especially with my in-laws, who I was scared would see me differently, it completely surprised me. I've not heard from much of my side of my family... the only person who responded is my sister (who is a bit of 'disappointment' for lack of a better word, to my mom anyway). And of course, having issues with the Mormon faith of her own, she didn't respond poorly either. Especially since one of her best friends is our gay cousin, which is one of the many reasons she took issue.
So here's hoping the trend continues, because I feel like a huge weight was taken off my shoulders, and there are so many people standing behind me now... I feel like we can make it. (I''ll post a link to the post in my signature if you want to see it)
Brilliant news, it's sounds like you've found support in unexpected places, which is even more comforting perhaps than from those whom we'd expect it from. Happy for you. X

Wow Ren, I'm really impressed. You've overcome a lot and getting support from that part of the world is impressive. I have a friend that is Mormon and causes me such grief and doesn't know it. He is soooo lgbt unfriendly. There's only a matter of time till we aren't friends anymore.

Right? I'm so freaking amazed... Like who the hell are these people and where did they come from? (Though, I'm still kinda laughing at the guy who annoyed me with some of his questions because he clearly didn't read the entire thing... But one of the things he mentioned was maybe he grew up in a more liberal culture than I did because even if I was more masculine with gender role/expression, people are accepting... Um dude.. You freaking grew up in Utah. Your brother rode the bus to school with me for two years, one of the first people I met. And I moved to Utah from DC... Just hush... Made me laugh...)
As for your Mormon friend, I'd be more than happy to give him a smack or two if I could... I mean um... Politely inform him that it won't kill him to be nice and at the very least keep his thoughts and opinions to himself..
