Title: hijra op rather than penile inversion in UK
Post by: rachel_worthington on December 05, 2017, 05:08:07 AM
Hi, I'm 46yr old MtF, who's wanted to transition since
the age of 8. The UK National Health Service only offers
hormone therapy and penile inversion, and makes this
extremely difficult to access. I'd be happy with a hijra
operation (seen this done in India, on television, using
a razor, in 30 seconds?!...) Does anyone know if this is
available privately in the UK, with some 'tidying up',
if possible in Bristol. Replies by email are welcome to
rachel092017@gmail.com

Thanks,

Rachel Worthington

I remember the documentary.  Nobody will legally use a razor on you in the UK.  Even in India, hijras nowadays prefer to save up and pay a doctor to perform the operation.

Monika1223 also wanted to become like a hijra, and succeeded in the USA:

Monika hasn't hasn't been active on Susan's Place for a long time.  I hope that she is OK and still happy with the operation.  I understand that even Dr Arnkoff now requires approval by an in-house therapist if the patient does not already have letters.

No idea if it's true, but I read somewhere that Dr Arnkoff requires letters due to rules at the hospital he works from.

This is a more recent thread about a penectomy with Dr Arnkoff:
