I'm still in a bit of shock, I can't believe I actually told her, I didn't say the words 'I'm transgender' - I'm not comfortable with saying that yet, even though I know I am. I figured eventually, I had to, she knows I've been having counselling, hiding something from her, dropping hints all over the place, generally seeming a lot unhappier. She actually look it really well, which I was not expecting, I was terrified she was going to kick me out, something she was offended by when I told her.
As most parents, she was worried for my future, transitioning, social reactions, me living as a female etc. I told her of my plans to get onto hormones asap, she told me to slow down as my personality is wired to rush into things - which it is, I have my appointment with my psychologist next month, which she will attend with me, she told me to persevere with my counselling, and hold off on making any decisions just yet.
I'm so relieved and also shocked she took it so well, I mean, she took it pretty well when I came out as gay, but coming out as trans is different. I understand she wants me to wait a while before taking hormones, but I intend on starting them next year, she knows this.

Fortunately/unfortunately about rushing into things, it's somewhat hard to do so if you aren't self medicating. You will have ample opportunity, perhaps far too much for your liking, to think things through.
Congrats! I love understanding mothers. Mine hugged me and told me I should transition after we talked things through for a weekend. It's so nice to have your mom as an ally Snead. Don't worry about jumping onto hrt right away, there is soooooooo much you can do in the meantime that will aide in transition.
