At 46 years on this Earth, I have finally realized something I can no longer deny. I am not who I outwardly appear to be.Years of military service and other very alpha employment kept a realization at bay.
I am married and have grown children, who if I was to share this with them, I know the reactions would be mixed.My wife would probably divorce me. My friends would probably never speak to me again. I run in very conservative circles. Not sure how extended family would react.
It's difficult for me to move forward, because of the above and more. I am happy to be here, to be a part of this group now and hopefully have a support network who can help me. I look forward to making new friends who can help guide me through the acceptance to which I've finally come.

Hi Kc,
Many members have been in your shoes. Having read their experiences, I can't predict how it will pan out for you. You will get a lot of support here, though. I hope that you have the best possible outcome.

Hi and welcome. I can 100% relate to this I'm also in military circles and have very Alpha friends and colleagues. It's not going to easy and gradually started coming out on ship at age of 47 but still not out in home town and not convinced it would be safe just now either. Trans Gender support groups in your area would be a good first step and they should be able to advise on how best to come out etc.

I know how you feel, maybe a little. Everyone's experience and situation is unique but I work as a manager and attorney
on a large project and everyone knows me as a somewhat brusque man with a bit of a "lone wolf" vibe. Growing up I worked on ranches, in forestry, and construction. I can put shoes on a mule, swing a framing hammer, etc.
I hope you find community and a way to be out safely. I'm sorry the world isn't more understanding. It sounds like you are a badass as a man and you will be a badass as a woman. The world doesn't always get it.

Hi Christyn,
I'm Laurie. I put my time in with the Navy. I was raised in a military family and it was never a quest of going into the service but which one and for how long. I chose the Navy like my Dad and served 6 years in order to become trained in computers way back in the 70s long before they were small enough to fit on a desk.
Welcome to Susan's Place. I hope you feel comfortable here and get all the support you need. I personally vouch for the support of our members as they have been helping me through difficult time for about 11 months now. I'm not sure where I would be without their help.
