Title: Hello from California
Post by: Claire Grey on December 12, 2017, 07:09:54 PM
I'm finding my way, coming out later in life. I'm 45 -- I'm just a fairly typical professional chick. I'm an attorney, an environmentalist, and a resident of the cultural bubble called "California." I love being trans and find the world's reaction a bit unfortunate. I look forward to participating in this forum and hearing more about you all. I'm concerned about the challenges of being out at work but not overly so--fortunately there is legal protection for trans folks here in California. I'd love to hear more about folks' experience coming out at work and navigating work.

Hi Claire, welcome to Susan's Place! I'm from Boston, and I'm happily transgender, too.  :)  I'm at a small company, I came out to them on a personal level when I was just dressing part time. I've since socially transitioned and they've been accommodating every step of the way.

See you around the site!

Hugs, Devlyn

Hi Claire,

I'm Laurie. I escaped California a little more than twenty years ago. I migrated to Oregon in search of a job after losing the one I had in Orange county for over 18 years. But I don't hold a grudge against the current inmates that still reside there. I have friends still down in the LA area I worry about every time the fires break out. I have others up in the Bay area too. Not to mention some of our members that live down that way.
Anyway, please let me say, Welcome To Susan's Place! Come on in and take a good look around.   I'll add some links and information below that can help you get more out of our site. Please take time to become familiar with them especially the RED one as we are always getting questions that are answered there.

Hi Claire,  I'm a UK girl,  though born in Torrance LA [emoji4].

We have have good legal protection in the UK too. I work for a large corporate who have been very supportive through my transition.
I wish you all the best on your trans* travels!
