Title: Not qualified for insurance
Post by: Magnolia88 on December 12, 2017, 09:48:17 PM
I tried enrolling in ACA and was denied due to my low income, but I make most of my money in tips. There weren't any options to include that in my application. My only option is to purchase a marketplace plan which are way too expensive for me. I'm a little devastated because I don't know how I can start my transition without health insurance. My plan was to start blockers and then hrt once I got my own apartment next year. Now I'm terrified at the thought of waiting another year to transition. I had coverage through work for a few months but it expired because of low hours. I've been thinking of changing jobs soon anyway. I really don't know where to go from here. Even if I got another job that provided healthcare, i wouldn't even be eligible for several months. I wanted to start hormones before my 30th birthday next August, but that's looking less likely.

I believe the ACA had a provision for navigators to help you through the process. As long as you saved your tax filings you should be able to prove your income. Take this information to a navigator and they should be able to tell you how to apply. This link (https://localhelp.healthcare.gov/#/) should help you with this.
