Title: Sanity prevails in Alabama.
Post by: Jessica Lynne on December 13, 2017, 07:57:22 AM
Roy Moore was defeated by Doug Jones last night and becomes the first Democrat to be elected to the Senate in Alabama in decades. This is a huge win for LGBTQ rights and should create a massive collective sigh of relief inside our Community. All I can say is,.... Yay!

It's also a win for simple human decency.

We dodged a bullet here, folks!  If you've been out of the country for the last year, here's what Roy Moore is like:

Alabama Republican Roy Moore has long railed against allowing transgender Americans to serve in the military. On Wednesday, the former state Supreme Court chief justice took his statements a step further.

"The transgenders don't have rights," he said Wednesday, according to the Montgomery Advertiser. Moore was at a press conference touting endorsements from 13 county sheriffs. . . .

This was just the tip of the iceberg, by the way.  Roy Moore was dead wrong on so many subjects in so many ways, I wouldn't even know where to start.  I'm SO glad this loon will be GONE from the political scene.

Yep, thanks to black women and men of Alabama, who overwhelmingly voted, some for the first time! :)

You got THAT right!  Exit polling on television news coverage on election night:

Black voters
95% - Jones
05% - Moore

Black Women
98% - Jones
02% - Moore
