Title: Gait change when running on HRT
Post by: AnamethatstartswithE on December 19, 2017, 08:57:03 PM
Hello,

This is for the other distance running gals here. I've been on HRT for just under 4 months, and I'm pretty sure there's been some hip rotation. Did anyone find that it changed your gait or pronation? I've been getting weird issues on long runs that seem like my shoes may not be matched correctly, but I've had them since the summer.

Anyone else have this issue?

I haven't had that issue but then I don't run with shoes.  I did try running with shoes several months ago and it felt really wrong.  I'm not sure if that was HRT or more likely that my feet have just adjusted to be without them.

My feet seem to pronate the same as before though and I believe my stride is unchanged also.

I haven't noticed any gait change myself, but I could understand how it could change in time after hopeful fat redistribution occurs.

Running my gait remains as it was before. Walking I have been working to unlearn a toe out gait. Something I remember teaching myself to do in jr high because it seemed like how men walked. I never realized in school that my running gait was different. I found that out after I had started working out on a treadmill. Trying to walk fast in the way I had learned to do it toe outward was impossible. What I finally figured out is my natural leg swing puts my feet on either side of a single line. My hips rotate inward slightly when stepping forward.
After figuring that out I said something to my wife. She said she thought I always walked funny. Like it was unnatural.
