Title: What to bring for gcs and oh god I am stressed.
Post by: Margaret_B on December 23, 2017, 09:36:56 PM
I am going nuts and my poor partner is suffering from my time count down of 1,081,079 seconds or 12 days, 12 hours 17 minutes and 59 seconds to gcs. I am looking for any distraction etc to keep my mind off of it. Now for a more serious question what should I take with me? I am going to Scottsdale for surgery. Where would be a good place to eat in Scottsdale? Any recommendations for site seeing? We arrive on 12/31 so looking for a place to go for New Years Eve. Thanks in advance

If you are staying near the hospital, you will have your choice of many places to eat. Scottsdale is tourist land so you have the regular places like Olive gardens and little places that specialize in a theme. I am not sure where to go on New Years Eve but depending on your interests there are attractions you might be interested in. The Hall of Flame has a fire collection. The Heard Museum covers Arizona History. The Desert Botanical Garden, the Zoo and down town Scottsdale has many speciality shops all grouped together. Let me know if you have any questions.

There are very nice mountain trails for hiking in and around Phoenix--everything from easy strolls to strenuous climbs.  A walk might do you both good.

Thank you for the link! Susan and I have 4 days to kill prior to V-day! I hope she does not kill me when we are there. She has been trying hard to distract me, surprised me today with the airline tickets. She was able to upgrade to 1st class round trip for $150 total for both ways from Sea to Phx. She is staying near the hospital in an Air BnB that came with a great recommendation from a few locals and a friend who uses it 3-5 times a year. Trying to keep busy with
work, have not told any of the places whom I contract for the reason for the surgery. 30% know me from before all the rest are new clients this year and just know me as the bitchy appraiser from Tacoma... They love my work put up with me :)

Great to hear she is going to be with through your surgery, will be nice to have someone you know being with you to support you as you recovery. Great you have upgraded flights. Get your hiking in before surgery as you willn't feel like hiking for awhile afterwards.  This is a great place to hike this time of the year nice weather not hot like most of the year.  Good luck all the way through recovery and keep us updates as you recovery.
