Title: "Is This Your Card?"
Post by: amydane on January 07, 2018, 08:02:50 AM
I still present as male most of the time. Yesterday I went to the local library with my son to pick up some books and movies. At the checkout counter I handed the attendant my library card, he looked at it closely, scanned it, paused, and asked me "is this your card". When in answered in my normal male voice "yes", he looked a little startled, then sort of nervously handed my card back and quickly scanned my items.

The thing is that I wore a baseball hat so that I would look more masculine. I wonder if that is happening more often than I realize. I have to admit that I am glad it happens when I'm in boy mode, not so glad when it happens in girl mode.

Amy, from your avatar you look like a beautiful female. Wearing a hat will not change that.

Going to be honest, I thought this thread was going to be about a magic trick. ;D

But this? This is much better! (I know, better than a magic trick is a high bar.) Ccongrats on the male fail. :D  I pray to god I can get to this point.

Congrats on the male fail!

I have had my card questioned.  The card had my male name while I was presenting female, but that's not what threw the bank teller.  The computer said I was 62, and she didn't believe it!   ;D  She was very apologetic when I told her the computer was right.  I told her not to worry, she had just made my day!

This is certainly a good sign when in boy mode, congrats! I had this happen to me a few times when I was paying with my credit card in boy mode and the store clerk pointed out that I cannot pay with my husband's card. When this happens I'm usually not in the mood to disagree with someone who thinks I'm a woman so I usually pay with cash.

It's great to look young, and even better to feel young.

Congratulations! Looking at you profile picture I would agree: no baseball cap, hat or other disguises would make you get by as male. Congratulations on that too!

Been there too... almost did not get into a customer's offices since security saw my old picture when I swiped my card.... they stopped me and looked three times then let me go. Also did not help that I was dressed all female but their computer said male.

A few months ago at the military ID card office they wouldn't believe my card was mine and finally after I convinced them it was me they strongly suggested I get a new card.  Still, the lady there wasn't fully convinced until my fingerprint matched.

I was at the bank once and the teller said "Do you have your own card? You used Michael's."  ;D

I was more than happy to explain that I WAS Michael. Did my name change shortly after that.
