I am trying to find insurance coverage for GCS and also looking at experiences and outcomes from different surgeons. I would love to hear any details from anyone who went to Dr. Gallagher at the university hospital in Indianapolis. I know their program only takes patients with insurance coverage and that their wait time is much shorter, less than a year. Right now I'm looking into insurance in my home state of IL and trying to find each companies requirements to prove medical nessecity.
I've read so many mixed outcomes from other surgeons, even here in the US. So with Dr Gallagher's work, complications, follow up both in hospital and aftercare. Does she make sure the urethra is moved to the correct location? Are you self lubricating afterward? Any details.
Thanks for any information.
I spoke with her early last year and really liked her. I was working with her staff about details and they informed me they did not take my insurance so I ended up not going with her.
Gina Eilers has a blog on wordpress; Dr. Gallagher did her bottom surgery. She replies to comments; you might contact her.

That's actually a very interesting question and until I had surgery I don't think I would have understood all the ramifications of that question. There are two lubrication possibilities, one stemming from the urethra and one from the development of the mucosal tissue lining of the vulva canal itself. When I had this lubrication conversation with Dr. Gallerger we would always frame it within the Vulva lining and mucosal tissue being the source of the lubrication. She would also say, most girls don't find it to be enough. But we never once discussed the other method.
Well right as rain, after surgery there is a conversion of the vulva lining to some self-lubricating mucosal tissue. The problem is, it's not nearly enough on it own to make things work. I'd say this is close to what I expected.
Now as things have healed -- it's been about 10 months. There's a whole new game in town. If I use a Hitachi for 30 minutes, I am literally dripping with lubricant (not urine) from my urethra. Really slimy stuff too. I didn't realize it at first but has continued to increase more and more with the use of the Hitachi vibe.
So that's how it's worked out for me so far. Plus I sent you a link to the results and some more images from today. I'll send them to anyone, just PM me.
Emma.
Thanks Emma, I have found your experiences helpful. Thank you for volunteering all the details along your journey. One of my biggest obstacles is finding insurance coverage.
