Does anyone have experience with Finesteride? I've been on it for 2 weeks and the headaches are affecting my quality of life. Not only does my head hurt - never fun - but my gender life almost seems inaccessible to me. I was really counting on the med being part of my HRT cocktail, and I need it for a prostate issue, but this is kinda sucky. Especially since my urologist tells me I'll need to take it forever. The gender numbness is quite unpleasant too. I'm beginning to miss the "Lindy" inside of me who's asking to come out.
Thanks bunch,
Lindy
Have you increased your water intake? That may help but I have zero experience with fin.

Please go and see your doctor and tell them that you are getting headaches. It is something that should be looked into.

Thanks, Cindy. I have an appointment in 1 week but will probably stop before then. It's only been 2 1/2 weeks but the daily migraines are getting difficult to tolerate. Headaches are a known side effect, and I must be susceptible to them.

I think stopping would be a good idea until you see the medic. I believe the insert says to stop taking the medication if any side effects occur.
Or simply call the nurse line at whichever clinic you're going to and explain the situation and ask for guidance.
I'm on a low dose of it because I'm greedy about hair, but I have not had any issues regarding headaches.
I have been on it since the middle of December but I have not gotten any headaches at all. I have not noticed any negative side-effects. Like Cindy said, you should talk to your doctor. Just in case you do not have access to information about the drug I just took a picture of what info the pharmacy gave me and will share that with you. You may want to read over it.

I take Finasteirde (the dose to prevent male pattern baldness), and read on a few forums that some people experience 'brain fog', I admit I did have a bit of a headache when I first took it but unsure if it was a Placebo due to reading about peoples side effects claim, it did really feel like some sort of migraine of kind of like my head was feeling kind of bloated -- hard to explain!
It did pass after a few weeks but if you still have it I would certainly speak to a DR!
Lindy,
If you are having problems with Finasteride, then there are several other medications your doctor can prescribe that do the same thing without the side effects.

Been on it for a few years (low dose) and never had the gender fog, nor headaches. Probably better stop taking them and see you doctor.
Thanks for the suggestions and input, everyone. I stopped the med yesterday - no headaches today. Yay! There's lots of research on the link between Finesteride and depression ... I could be getting some of that too. I'll see the doc next week for follow up.
Hugs

I support your greedy quest for hair :) In my 30s, I had dark, thick hair down to the middle of my back. I'd give anything to have it back again. But as we all know, wishing won't make it so!
