I was thinking of visiting this country. I can't help but notice there are no or few members from the country here. It does have a kind of macho-ist identity. Can any one direct me with there experiences there?

I think I heard once that their SRS consists of placing MTFs in the Bull Ring with red capes and funny hats.
I went to Spain way back when I was 16. I spent a week in Barcelona and a week in Madrid (with a week in Luxembourg to start the trip). I loved every minute of it. The subtle nuances, cultural differences.
As far as transgender acceptance, I couldn't tell you. Hispanic people are, in general, rather macho. I have come across a few transgender women from Spain. But most people on Susan's are from English speaking countries.
Hi, I'm from Europe (Finland) and have travelled quite much in Spain and spent a winter in Barcelona. I would travel to that country in any day and would feel safe. It is a macho culture, but it just means, that guys might approach you more actively, than in some other country/culture.
What comes to safety, if you are staying in Barcelona, Baleares or any of the sunny tourist places and beaches, I wouldn't worry about safety....of course you need to keep your senses and not take any stupid risks, like in everywhere and that goes for cis and t-women.
But these places live from tourism and I have a hard time of imaging, that they would act weird or hostile, because that means loosing money.
And my personal experiences from the Spanish people are only positive.
Spain is fine. There are far less welcoming countries for the likes of us.
I never had a problem there, either as a man or a 16 year old girl.

It seems she gets along just fine.
