Title: Any gamers here?
Post by: jessica_rosalia on January 26, 2018, 02:27:06 PM
I'm a gaming nerd.  Been so since the days of the Atari 2600.  I work in the IT industry and gaming has been one hobby that has helped me cope while traversing more difficult Jessica issues.

If there are any gamers here and want to connect, (PC Gaming / Steam, Xbox or PS4), let me know.

FYI, I'm also a huge sci fi / Star Trek nerd

I'm a big time gamer. I have a laptop and an Xbox One atm although I mostly only play WoW or Heroes of the Storm on my laptop.
Play a lot of games though on ma Xbox. The Dark Souls trilogy is my favorite but I have lots of others I like like Witcher 3, or Star Wars Battlefront (2015) for example.
I mean, my signature even has a gaming banner in it for Heroes of the Storm :p

Yep.

Been a huge videogame nerd since the early 80s when my uncles worked in the industry and let me play all the C64/Atari/Amiga games and computers lying around their place.

I just wish I had more time to play them these days but my "career" (if I can call it that) gets in the way.

Oh yes!!!! *glances at my avatar and signature*

Deep breath Viktor don't start screaming about how much you love video games...

I absolutely love gaming. My apartment walls are adorned with commissioned fan art and original prints and screenshots of all my games, and especially game release posters I've gotten from game stores. Half my bookshelf are game cases (not including my digital library).

Gaming even helped me understand and realize my identity and sexuality too and I can't be thankful enough for that.

Grew up with a gameboy pocket and played Mario. Borrowed an old Zelda game from someone when I was in grade school, my parents yelled at me and I got into trouble. My parents were um... anti-gaming people...

My brother and I bought the first Playstation the Christmas after it came out. I spent the next 10+ years playing only Frogger and simple PS1 games because it's all my parents would let me play.

Freshman year at university I bought my Xbox 360. Freshly graduated from university, I bought my Xbox One.

2016 I bought my gaming laptop after my Macbook died. Chose a laptop over a desktop due to the need for it to be portable for work things.

I plan to build a new game pc.  Up until this point, my last three pc gaming systems have been ASUS ROG gaming laptops. I plan to build a water cooled system using the Nvidia 1080ti maybe next month.  Afterwards I would like to try the HTC Vive for VR gaming.  I may wait until the second gen HTC Vive is released, or maybe go with the Oculus Rift instead

Once I move I'm going to setup a good VR machine I think. I heard gpus were super marked up atm because of mining rigs though. ;/

I used to be an MMO addict. I haven't had time to play any since around when TSW came out. Started on DAOC so long ago, went to WOW, Warhammer, Rift, SW TOR, and TSW, along with a few betas and short forays here and there.

I have an idiotic amount of time invested in Minecraft PE (one world I've been working on on-and-off for three years).

I'm on Steam too, fallout, elder scrolls, the witcher, tomb raider and shadow of mordor, atm.
PM me to add me on Steam :)

I like ESO. I enjoy being a very dark vampire playing with forbidden magic >:)
System is kinda cool how you can pretty much build yourself to be any class no matter how you start the game. The "risk" style pvp is kinda cool too.
Also have a friend who wanted me to get FFIV but as much as I'd be willing to play with them, I just didn't wanna pay for a second subscription with WoW. I'm not THAT rich.

Yes FF14 can be a bit pricey in the long run, but I'd love to play with my family since I hardly see them

I play a few.  I honestly have reduced my game time by 99.9% though.  What used to be an all consuming endeavor is now a rare event.  I used gaming to cover/treat my dysphoria.  I use to play for an hour before work, and then about 9 after work and sleep the rest.  I did almost nothing beyond that.  Now, I might get on 2-3 times a month.  If I'm on I'd be happy to hang in ESO or Star Wars BF 1 or 2 on the Xbox1.

^ This!  I started playing FFXII in October, and still haven't finished yet. I spent nearly every minute of my free time playing games, and that was to immerse myself in another world & hopefully forget about the dysphoria & depression for a time.  In fact, I used to take vacation time from work whenever a new Super Robot Wars game was released.
I do enjoy playing still, but in addition to being just plain busy, I'm a bit worried still of falling into my old habits.
I WILL however be making time to game (and renewing PS+) when Earth Defense Force 5 hits the States. I LOVE that series!

Used to be a huge gamer, guess it was a sort of "coping mechanism" for me.. Long story short, I got very addicted to Star Wars Galaxies for about 2-3 years, until I couldn't afford it anymore. Moved on to SWTOR once it went F2P, finally lost interest last year after completing KOTET. Still play SWTOR every few months, but otherwise have started to casually play through my massive Steam library(I have like 100 games now, have only played at most 10 of them).

Spend the majority of my gaming time watching streamers on Twitch.. turns out it is easier to watch on Twitch than it is to wait the few minutes to launch a game myself.

Twitch is the best. When I just need to turn my brain off I listen to streamers play Rimworld. It's so relaxing, you don't need to actually see what's happening to understand what's going on and the stories that progress naturally from all the drama between pawns is truly entertaining.
