Title: Dysphoria tests online prove the obvious
Post by: Larisa on January 28, 2018, 12:49:24 PM
I just took a few tests online about gender dysphoria even though I already know the answer. Ofcourse it came back and said I had it. I dont know why it's so hard to talk about it. I know I have it. Didnt need a test for it. Im usually drawn towards the girl in me. I feel often like a girl and so I wish I could get past being shy enough to be me!

How does one talk about it??

Its a mental health thing.
Nobody likes talking about mental health.

Not saying you have an illness because you don't but it's so easy to say to someone i'm not myself as I have a broken leg and they can see your leg is broken than saying "I am transgendered and in the wrong body" as people cannot see that. or saying "I am suffering from depression" has such less an impact that I have twisted my ankle.

That's my take on it.

But feel free to talk to any of us here anytime okay :)

Start in the safe places--here, with counselor who does not practice "faith-based" therapy, with the most open-minded of your friends.  Each conversation leaves footprints in your thoughts.  Eventually, they coalesce into a path until you reach the point where you instinctually know where to walk.

Hiya,

First things first, you my lady, need a (hug).

Maybe you could try finding a local LGBTQA centre, and see if there is local counselling that can help out - they will be a receptive audience, and will understand the struggles that you're having. Even if you feel that you can't summon up the ability to say the words, you can go in prepared with a postcard or something similar. Simply having it written down can do tremendous things to self confidence :)

As a species we are wired to see the obvious, and less are wired to be able to grasp more abstract ideas, or be able to empathetically relate to someone who has a different perspective to their own.

But that doesn't matter so much now, that you've found home.

You can read my other post from yesterday but my doctor is helping me with this. I wont transition but I might have a chance to lower it some even if it's still low. That would help me out so much! I have to wait for all my tests to be done so we know where things are.
