Title: UK Waiting Times
Post by: MollyPants on February 01, 2018, 04:18:40 AM
Has anyone had any experience with the Nottingham clinic? The psychiatrist referred me there in early November and said I should get a letter acknowledging his referral but I haven't heard anything from them yet. He did say to chase them but I was a bit wary of doing that over Christmas and January given how busy things are at the moment.

Is this just to get on HRT?

Thats 1st app theres 2 appointments atleast 6 months apart so if u wait for nhs for hrt its prob 2 to 2.5 years from refferal. Think most ppl end up private for hrt while waiting

And to start the care pathway for everything else I think?

Wow jeepers that's a lot longer than I thought. I expected a year or so for an  appointment but then maybe  expected it to move a bit  quicker after that? I can see why so many people go private :/

I suppose it's plenty of time to work on my beard, voice, mannerisms, grow my hair And figure my look out.

Hey
There's been way too many instances of GIC's losing referrals for you not to be following it up now. They did relocate in December, which may cause a delay acknowledging your referral, but also adds to the risk of them losing it. Not wanting to freak you out but for sure I'd be checking they got it. For reference they took 3 weeks to acknowledge min, although that was a couple of years ago xx

Hi Supposedly referred to Nottingham  20 miles away, but on HRT Private and fully assessed (Psy/Couns) atm, will be full time before I get there - GICs are so underfunded and too focussed on binary identification I hear. Just be extreme or not at all it seems atm - not enough cash to spend on a 'personal choice' when life or death other situations exist that the pubic can understand.
Not enough real situation presentation of what this often means to us when we cant get a resolution. Or maybe I am in a minority on where GD will eventually lead me, or in my case to try again at the wrong resolution. Hope I fail next time, again.
Thanks for reminding me  as I need to chase up GP to ensure referral. They were quick enough to refer me for a cataract, which I said caused me problems driving and applying make-up.. they referred me  as a ' transgender patient' in the referral letter,, not certain the relevance of that unless hormones affect eyesight??
Anyway moving home and splitting from wife in  next 2 weeks, so thanks everyone  that invited me to events in the UK but I'm too busy for next 6 months settling into being single again and rebuilding the hovel that I can now afford..
Will be spending cash on Laser I think ..
Anyway too many subjects here,
TC

Think it took 6 weeks for reply from Notts 12months ago, on private HRT and full time not that I will ever pass as have no £££S for any extras or laser/electrolysis

I can relate they noted "transgender woman" on my discharge papers from the hospital even though the diagnosis was alcohol abuse (long story there). It was weird to see but that actually made me realize if a stranger can openly say this why can't I? I thought I was just crossdressing at the time... could be that binary "boxing" you mentioned is prevelant in nyc even. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case everywhere.

And I fully agree that transgender care is very important it really can be life or death sadly...

I completely get that too. I realised a few days ago I'd never described myself as a transwoman. I managed to text it to people but I can't say it out loud.

Outloud is alot harder, it somehow makes it more real
