Title: ESTRADIO PATCHES (MINIVELLE)
Post by: Cassi on February 02, 2018, 05:35:46 PM
Hi everyone!

Well, to my surprise I received my Estradiol patches in the mail today.

And proceeded to put them on.  However, the first thing I noticed was that they didn't stick very well so I put a bandaid over each of them.

When I arrived home and changed my shirt one had disappeared.  I found it but there was so much lint type stuff that I couldn't use it.  So, I double bandaided them.

Back in 2016, I tried using the quit smoking patches but they keep coming off.  Does anyone know of a trick that makes it easier to keep the patches on?

I can't believe that I'm the only person that has issues with patches.  Tips and/or suggestions as to placement and the patches relative to hygiene (bathing) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Cassi

I swab the area I'm putting the patch on with 91% isopropyl alcohol.  Eventually your skin is less oily too.  Also, at least Climara, instructions say don't put anything over the patch.

Thanks Jessica,

The instructions were kind of vague other than placing below belly button or buttock.  Not even sure about bathing.

Hi
Clean  out side of thigh where jeans etc don't run too much, (same level as hip joint/ V... should be OK#) - just dry with towel after shower and all my Avoril patches stick for at least 4 days.. and I shower at least once a day (with soap stuff..)

So, the ones on my arms probably won't be any good to move them to the hip?
BTW, Katie is my daughter's name :)

I just put surgical tape to hold my patch in place.

Hi Katie,

I'd be happy to claim you as my second daughter but I would have been 8 years old when you were born so how about younger sister :)

My Katie is 22, but the secret is that she was 4 years old when I married her mom.  When her mom passed away, she had the opportunity of going to live with her biological father but chose to live with me.  It is funny however when people meet us that they say she looks a lot like me :)

I too started the Finasteride a week ago and have one of those pill boxes for the week and for morning, noon and night but if I get anymore pills I'll either have to get a larger box or a second one :

So, welcome to the family!

BTW, I would have never guessed your age by your picture!

I sort of disclaim that photo in the notes on posts, but yes that's me  just beauty setting and  FaceApp only once, still its probably what I would have looked like 30 or so years ago (only took 20 photos to get that one...). I'm much wrinklier than that, well getting smoother atm due to meds :)
I'm off so good night big Sis

I am not familiar with that brand.  Mine are Sandoz, I think.  I have had a couple not stick well, but mostly I have had no problems.  I shower every day.

I stick mine on my abdomen, below my navel.  I use three areas, left, middle, and right, alternating in rotation so each site gets 7 full days to recover.

I found that the adhesive is only good for one application.  So if you don't get it right and try to move it, it is not going to stick well the second time.  It sticks best in the shower if I get it wrinkle-free.  Wrinkles allow water under the patch, loosening it.  Applying a flat patch to a decidedly un-flat belly without wrinkles is a bit tricky. but I am getting better at it.

Thank you Kathy,

I tried or put the first two on my upper arms and used two bandaids to keep them on.  After showering I replaced the patches by placing them kinda on my hip.  So far, so good.  My patches are no larger than a quarter.
