Title: Allergic reaction to testosterone?
Post by: bernardosouza on February 11, 2018, 09:49:47 AM
Hey there fellas! My name is Bernardo Souza and I'm a Brazilian FTM/NB guy and this is my first time posting here.

Well, on the 8th of this month I had my first shot of testosterone! Yay! It'd be great if I didn't have an allergic reaction to it, which brings me to the reason I'm writing this post:

I know some guys/gals who take testosterone and had allergic reaction to it (itching and hives) but I'm wondering what could've caused this on me because I've never shown allergy signs with either peanut nor alcohol. I have been in contact with alcohol and I've never had any reaction and I'm a peanut lover, I have eaten them since I can remember so I don't know what's causing it.
My reaction was a really hard itching everywhere in my body and hives/welts 2 days after my shot, I injected Durateston (which is the brand name for a testosterone that contains 4 types of T on it, I'm sorry I don't know the name for it in English, I'll put link for a picture on the post, maybe you'll recognize it) and my needle was a IM 25x0,70 (which is also on the image). I'm thinking that maybe the needle lenght was the problem, cause it was too small maybe? I don't know, any advice?

Welcome to Susan's Place. Testosterone (and estrogen) use a vegetable oil to control the delivery of the medication to your system. Without it, you would be injecting less than a drop and it would be quickly absorbed by your system. The problem is some people are allergic to the oil used in the injection. The solution is different companies may use different oils. If you are unable to find something you don't react to, there are compounding labs that will produce a custom mix for you that uses an oil you don't react to. This is something you need to discuss with your doctor but it's important not to use the prescription if you have had a reaction to it until you see your doctor again.
