Title: How long did you breasts grow for?
Post by: SaintAlia on February 15, 2018, 09:02:56 AM
So I'm sure people have asked this question before, but I couldn't find it, so...

How long after starting HRT did your boobs grow before they stopped. Like, how long until you "got what you were going to get?"

I've seen the famous pictograph for general timelines for different changes, and it seems to imply that breast growth doesn't even really start until 3-6 months, and supposedly goes for years. I started in the first couple months, adding to what gynecomastia had started, and by nearly 10 months, I have fairly significant growth, but I'm not tiny, and could use larger, fuller boobs to compliment my overall shape.

But I wanted more anecdotal personal accounts from girls as to how long your breasts grew for. I'm heading toward the one year mark, and I want to know if I should keep my hopes up for greater development, or if I should start to get used to settling. Thank you!

I'm at 16 months total HRT and 13 1/2 months on injections and mine are still growing....slower than I would like but still growing.  There will probably be periods where it feels like nothing is going on an you aren't getting any changes but you still are.  I'm 35 by the way.

Hi Alia,

I am just a couple months ahead of you so I am in the same boat with you. From what I understand continued growth may slowly occur  for a long time yet with possible spurts. For the last several months I've notice mainly accumulation of fatty tissue in my breast but not much of a girth change. I am a 40A but have difficulty finding bras in that cup size. A "B cup" is still a bit big. So I am also hoping for my volume. I see my GP this morning and will be asking about adding progesterone to my hrt regimen.

  Hugs,

Thanks, Laurie! I went on progesterone a few months ago too. According to repeated measurements, I'm supposedly a 40c, but something doesn't feel right about that number. *shrug* I dunno.

I come up with the same measurements results 40C. But an A cup is what fits best.

Numbers. Pffft.

Get what fits and fie on the numbers. The tape says I should be 40C, but in most styles I fill a B better. I am somewhat pointy and wide-set.

Everyone is different and there are so many factors that affect it.  Age, genetics and type and method of hormone usage all have an effect.  Generally development will occur over the course of years with the length probably averaging 5-7 before everything stabilizes somewhat.  But even after that time the size can vary depending on if you gain or lose weight.  I have a cis gender roommate who is in her 40's and she has recently lost some weight and complains that her boobs have shrunk.

I've been on HRT for 3 years.  I had BA after six months.  I was a 38A and post surgery (500 CC gummy bears) I was a small C.  I have continued to develop since the BA and I'm now a large C small D.  Mostly I'm seeing a filling in and widening of the breasts.  I think I will continue to change for at least another 2 years.  I'm very happy with how things have worked out for me.  I think with the amount of time you have on HRT you can count on things continuing to develop for you.

I am one of the freaks around here, as probably 80 to 90% of my changes (after 23 months) has been non-stop breast growth starting around 3 weeks. I am 36C now and recently I am having a ton of breast pain which means a significant growth spurt for me. I really don't need to grow any more, but I love these soft things too much to quit, I am afraid. Definitely YMMV. It's something to think about...

My story - I responded to hormones very fast and have been wondering the same thing. I got tender 3 weeks into HRT, had definite growth by a couple months, and I am very happy... but worried they'll stop too soon.  My current size is smaller than I'd want though it's actually not far off from my goal.  I'm at about 5 months and a solid 34B.  Way better than I had ever expected (I assumed I'd be lucky to get an A and would need implants).

My cis-F partner views this as a general block to weight loss. She loses a lot of breast size when she loses weight. She's seriously considered implants but is too nervous about losing feeling (it's rare but not worth the risk for her).

So while yes weight changes can change things, 5-7 years is too long a timeline I'd guess.  I've never seen that in the literature - be it WPATH guidelines or random histograms thrown around. Of course life changes and hormone changes can change those numbers, but in terms of "primary growth" I'd think a few years.

Also my insurance requires a year of HRT before looking at augmentation... for whatever that is worth.

After 22 months HRT, I went and cut to the front of the line and had a BA. (695cc Cohesive Gel).  In the past year since I've had them, I am not sure if there has been additional growth.  All I know is that since my BA, my body confidence has gone through the roof.

Nice boobs will do wonders for a girl confidence cis or trans.  A nice rack is what every girl wants to have on her chest.

Breasts keep on growing girl! I've been on HRT since 2004 and post-op, since 2005 and there were times of growth and then loss and then growth again, just like in ciswomen. It's a never-ending thing!

Mine started within 2-3 weeks.

Most of the growth is supposed to happen in the first two years, and on average it takes a few months for things to get off the ground; a person may be an exception to these rules of course, just like the whole "one cup smaller than your female relatives" yardstick.

I want to try injectables, some see better results from them:  Injections and Breast Growth (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php?topic=5825.0).  More feminization of facial features too.  Maybe this is from the steady supply of E they deliver, instead of sharp peaks.  At 47 I've only made it to AA cup after 7 months, but I wasted a lot of time with insufficient dosages, I believe.

Your age is a big factor in what results you have, as we grow older we lose HGH.

Every time I think mine are done growing, they start hurting and cone again...and I am over 2 years on uninterrupted HRT.  I am now a 38B/C, which has actually surprised me, but not my doctor.  Originally, I planned on having BA at 1 year, but I have now chosen to hold off until I hit year three.  My endo says that they should be done by then.

I have had many friends whose circumstances allowed them to medically transition ahead of me and almost all of them have given me a common piece of advice: Be patient and let HRT do its work.  I know it is hard sometimes...trust me, I definitely know!!!

To illustrate my point about development continuing for a number of years here is a look at my development over the last 3 years using the same bikini top...

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4760/26431326278_d28c00a3ab_h.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/GgDss3)

The top left picture was taken at the end of March 2015 after I had just started HRT.

The top right picture was taken a couple of days ago.

The bottom left is the day before I had BA about 6 months after the top left picture (Aug 2015).

The bottom center is a few days post BA surgery (Sept 2015).

The bottom left is April 2016 which was a little over a year on HRT and 7 months post BA.

Even three years after starting HRT mine are still changing and filling out.  Puberty takes 3-5 years to happen and when we transition we go through puberty again.  While most of the major development occurs in the first 2-3 years, the changes continue to occur for a few years after that.  Throw in something like getting GCS and a whole new dynamic occurs.  I know that I experienced changes in by breasts post GRS and I've read the accounts of countless others who had the same experience.

I am glad that I didn't wait 2-3 years to have my BA.  I consulted with my therapist and my doctor who all indicated to me that there was no real need to wait that long to have the procedure, but then again I didn't go particularly large for my size.

Thanks for posting Jess. That was very smart to take pictures like that. That is one regret I have. I wish I had taken photos before I started on HRT. Now it is harder to see the changes. I had gynecomastia as a teenager so I had already gone through a lot of development.  I still wish I had taken photos. I've been on HRT for about a year and last week mine felt like they were growing again. They felt heavier. By tape measure I'm a 40c.

I'm 14 yrs post-HRT. In the last few days, my breasts started growing again...thanks to a change in my hormones (i.e. increase in estradiol). :)

Had a largish a cup from being fat and not having much t in my body for 4 years or so, on four months of hrt its gone to a 40d (according to the calculators) but I feel its more like a c cup. In terms of growth I felt it about 2 weeks after hrt started and the pain doesn't really stop. When will it stop? No idea, but my mother is rather large so there is still room for size improvements yet!

krobinson103, with all the changes you are having in their size and shape, you probably need to get measured or at least go someplace where you can try on several sizes and style to see which bra fit and feel best for you.

Genetic women's breasts start growing around puberty and can continue to do so for as much as a decade. And they often change greatly over the subsequent years. Transgender people on HRT seem to report similar spans of changes after commencing their induced second puberty. You'll be wise to be patient and see what happens.

That's kind of along the lines of what I've been seeing. Yet I do keep seeing many trans women say they have BA after a year or two. Everyone's needs and choices are different, but it makes me wonder at what point I should assume I'm done, and if I want to go the BA route, or if patience and time, for me, would resolve everything without the need for surgery.

It really is a personal choice and question that we each have to ask ourselves.  Personally for me, I needed to do it at 6 months and my doctor and therapist both agreed that the size I was getting would not be an issue even if I got substantial additional growth.  Based on how I had developed to that time, and their expertise in treating trans patients they were very comfortable with my moving forward and getting the size implants I got (500 cc).  My goal was to be proportional to my size and being a 38 C/D is perfect for me.  Even if I get additional growth and get to a DD it will not look out of place for my body.  I was fortunate that I didn't have to worry so much about the cost and if for some reason I get a huge growth spurt and they grow to an unmanageable or unattractive size I can afford to get them redone.  Good luck with your decision.

I love the " porn look " type of boobs. That's what I'm striving for.

The very large "porn look" can be a lot of fun at bedtime or when you want to seriously strut some stuff, but for day-to-day living having very large breasts is often quite a nuisance. For one thing, you can pretty well forget every buying most off-the-rack tops or dresses again. Your clothing options will be very limited-- sort of like they are for the tall women, but more so.

Then there's the social aspect. Admiring stares are not something you always will want, but you'll always get them no matter where you are. As one woman I once knew often repeated "breasts make men stupid". You'll often be seen not as a whole person, but as a pair of breasts with legs. That idea might seem fun for awhile, but it will get old quickly and then be frustrating.

BTW, I happen to be oriented to be attracted to femininity and I prefer even the smallest natural breasts over implanted ones. Implanted chests almost always look exactly like what they are to me. I can understand why TG people often get them, but to me they just rarely seem to look very good (out of clothing, anyway).

I have always had a very eccentric personality so fake boobs don't bother me :-P

I might even end up chosing a porn-career ultimately.

I would not be bothered by having guys fall of their bicycle from looking at my low cut top.

Breast augmentation can look very good if you have enough tissue. I have a lot of tissue luckily.
