Title: Skinny jeans
Post by: CallMeKatie on February 18, 2018, 03:22:56 AM
So just bought my first pair of ladies jeans. They are super cute and fit soooo good!

So a quick question about them.
Firstly, pockets? Do no women's clothes have pockets? These jears have two little cute zips at the front but nothing would ever fit into them. I know we're meant to carry a handbag but pockets?

Ha! Welcome to women's clothes! Yeah, totally takes a while to get used to useless pockets. I keep a thing of chapstick in my front pocket because that's all that will fit. I do carry a tiny bifold wallet with my license and two cards in my back pocket when I don't feel like carrying a bag, and my iPhone sort of almost fits in the other back pocket.

I know some brands do put actual human useful pockets but I can't remember which ones, I think they were more on the expensive side.

This was explained to me many years ago by my mother. Pockets on woman's pants are decorative and where never intended to carry anything. The reason is because they are close fitting and the bulges from something in your pocket wouldn't look attractive on a female figure. You might get a credit card and ID in a pocket without it showing however everything else is supposed to be in your purse.

On the other hand, I have jeans from LL Bean with full sized pockets however they are far from close fitting. They are heavy in construction and intended more for work than fashion.

Some of my pants only have fake pockets for exactly this reason and I have girlfriends who cut the pocket part out of their pants so they lay nicer!

It's handy to have enough of a pocket for a Kleenex.  One of my pairs of skinny jeans has pockets just big enough for that.  The other only has fake pockets.
