Title: Really struggling today
Post by: CallMeKatie on February 19, 2018, 01:37:40 AM
It's just a bad dysphoria day. I will have other good one.

So far this morning because I still look like a man, I've been getting the full crude treatment from other men.

One guy insists on calling people a C. He does this to all the men and while swearing doesn't bother me much, it made me sad as he wouldn't say it if I was a woman.

Second guy started making jokes about his penis...sigh.

Third guy said I look like I'm from the 60s cos of my long hair. I know it's not a feminine cut but I was hoping it was a little female.

Just ugh!

 Hi Katie,

Hang on in there girl. It sounds like the typical male crap I didn't care for most of my life. I didn't like such crudeness but it is the way men and boys are. I really had no good idea why I didn't like it except that it was disrespectful towards women. Now that I know I am trans, It makes sense to me. Like you, I am a woman inside and always have been. I didn't know it then but I do now. Still I struggle with accepting that knowledge. It is just one of the many things I struggle with and all of it keeps me from really becoming who I know I am.
You will be okay Hun and this will pass.

Hugs,
   Laurie

If you're worried about your hair, go get it cut the way you really want it! Don't settle for picking how to be, based on someone else's expectations. That will only set you up for failure. If you're not full time yet, you should be working on it in everything you do! Work hard everyday on who you are and your transition. Guys are going to be guys, I agree with Laurie. But if you don't feel comfortable being called something like that.. TELL HIM.
It took time for me to learn how to correct people when they spoke to or about me. Eventually it was 2nd nature. Someone would start to call me "sir" and before it was fully out of their mouth, my pointer finger was in the air and I would say "it's Ma'am." Thankfully, I haven't had to correct anyone in a while..

Just keep swimming hun! You got this!
