I've lost a lot of my muscle mass since I switched to doing more computer work rather than physical lifting and moving.
I'm happy enough with that and I've noticed I have become a lot weaker obviously.
So this week someone else is doing the computer things and I am doing the manual things and I am struggling. These things are heavy!
So the builders in the site come across and help me. I haven't seen them do that for any other man on site.
Of course it's me having wishful thinking but maybe they saw a girl in trouble and rushed to my aid haha
It's not your imagination. Guys almost never help other guys with heavy stuff unless they are specifically asked. But they will immediately help a woman. This seems to be another "guy rule" I was clueless about. My brother educated me about this like he has other " guy rules". There is this guy who lives a couple of doors down. He's my age, about 6 feet tall and looks about 100 pounds. I'm sure he weighs more but that's what it looks like he weighs. One day he was unloading big bags of something from the back of his truck. They looked kind of like bags of mulch for the lawn only bigger. He was having a lot of trouble unloading them. You could tell they were almost too heavy for him. I asked Tyler why he was just standing there and told him to go help the guy and that the bags wouldn't be anything for him to lift. He said because the guy was doing ok even though it was hard for him and that he didn't want to embarrass they guy. I was like, embarrass how?? He said unless the guy is older or disabled, having another guy, especially one who's bigger and more jacked offer to help lift something is pretty much an insult. I told him he was crazy and that I would try to help him then. He said " you? You're a small girl. You might as well just cut his balls off if you offer to help him". I found the whole thing just ridiculous and asked my dad about it. He said that it was true for the most part and especially among younger guys. For such simple creatures men have very complex rules of conduct.

This absolutely true Julia, especially the part where you suggest you would help if your brother didn't. Very emasculating for men to ask for help. They would rather hurt themselves.
Haha, I remember couple of years back at work two guys were struggling to bring an oversized tumble dryer down some outside steps, about to drop it. I was like "want some help?" and they absolutely blanked me. I stood there and watched them with a toothpick in my mouth grinning while they nearly dropped both their week's salaries down into the yard. Too bad they didn't, because I would have rubbed that salt in good.
Young guys can be strange. How about when they'll fight in front of other guys, but don't want into in front of women? They'd rather pretend nothing matters, in order to look cool, and do their male posturing, trying to attract women.
So funny. Even though I was born male, my brain has never been wired to think like a male. Despite having three older brothers, I was never conditioned to think like them.
