Title: Transition Guideline
Post by: Violett on February 21, 2018, 11:11:03 PM
Hello everyone,

I need help.  Can any one point me to a guide, or just give me their experience, regarding what to expect with
HRT by say 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 month, 3 months, 6 months, a year, etc., speaking about the effects on breast
development, hip/thigh changes, facial changes, hair changes, emotional difference, skin changes, or anything
else you can think of I left off.

I need to know how to plan when to tell family and friends.  Also will the timeline change for someone who is
mature?  I do realize that everyone's experience will vary, so you can only provide your experience or one generalized.

I have to get off the computer now since its overheating, but I will check in tomorrow and post any additional
questions I have based on any replies made.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Hi Violett 🙋‍♀️ With myself, within the first week my skin softened and my emotions were sometimes all over the place. Urine smell changed and sense of smell was more acute. At 1 month my entire chest felt different, a tense sensation.  Second month my nipples and areolae increased in size and sensitivity, but would shrink back sometimes.  3rd month breast buds started, tender, tender, tender!  Fourth month I continued bud growth and slight fat distribution in my face and butt.  Fifth month, I had a breast growth spurt that itched more than I cared for. Face is definitely softening.  Body hair on lower legs thinning.  Sixth month face has rounded more and laugh lines decreased dramatically.  I look younger at this point. Seventh, increase in butt dimensions, a small spot of hair on my head returned.  Some bald patches on my legs.

Thanks so much for replying!  That helps me understand a little better what to expect.  Any ideas as to when I would need to tell everyone, because they wouldn't be able to not notice?  Early on I will only tell those I am really close with, I will tell the rest only when it becomes noticeable to them.

Hi, Violett!

The most important thing is that everyone responds differently.  So what happened for me may not be the same that happens to you.

By two weeks, my nipples were tingling, and by one month, I could feel my breasts growing.  They were sore if they rubbed against my shirt when walking.  I started wearing a sports bra for protection and concealment.  I was still hiding them at three months, but it was getting more difficult.  T-shirts were out of the question.  It was still winter, so I could hide the boobs and bra under a heavy flannel shirt.  The necessity to wear lighter clothing in spring helped determine my coming out date.

I noticed facial changes at about 6 months.  Nothing significant to anyone else.  If I hadn't been out by that time, people might have thought I'd lost weight or something, even though my cheeks are a tiny bit chubbier.  By 9 months, I was starting to notice a little bit of fat redistribution on my hips and thighs.  Again nothing significant.  If I'd been wanting to hide, it would have been trivial.  It's not the sort of thing anyone but me would have noticed.

Within the first couple of months, the male bits shrank quite a bit, making them much easier to tuck.

Hello Violett,

Here's a graphic that gives general guidelines on what to expect. As others have said, your mileage may vary. I'm at about the six month stage and it's pretty close.
