Title: Is the Estrogel already in my system after 5 hours?
Post by: Transfused on February 25, 2018, 05:22:01 PM
Hello,

I'm a little paranoid about something atm :

I applied my Estrogel 5-6 hours ago.
I took a shower half an hour ago.

Can I rest assured that I absorbed the full dosage in that time frame?
I am very nervous and afraid that I washed it away...

As I understand it it goes into the skin after an hour and slowly releases from there
BUT
I washed myself with warm water. Wouldn't the warm water open the poors and have it sip out again?

I can't sleep because I'm worrying about not getting my full dose :-(

I am on E-gel and E-patches.

The patch is something you can be sure it stays on but the E-gel is wishy washy :-(

I don't take a shower for at least 24 hours after my application but I think 5-6 hours is fine, even after 1 hour, it should be fully absorbed. Check with your pharmacist/doctor to be sure.

You might consider applying the Estrogel right after you shower. This is recommended in the patient instructions.

Yup, that's what I do. :)
