There's another thread that has been covering this topic as there are a few of these apps. My avatar is from FaceApp and probably one of the better ones I have experienced.
And I certainly hope that they aren't too close to what I might look like because on the 2nd woman mode my face melts :(
With me, I used FaceApp in the beginning. There were a few tries that were terrible, but after I found the right photo, it looked great. Very close and very feminine. It helped me tremendously seeing what a possibility could be. My avatar now is of the real me. Felt real enough to be proud of it.
Smiles, Jessica
It's a free app. Can't expect much.
I would try a lot of photos. Some come out really bad usually due to lighting and other factors. I've also found that, where I typically raise my eyebrows when I smile, Faceapp raises them even more (typical feminine difference) which gets cartoonish.
But my avatar is from Faceapp and made me much happier than I expected.
And no it isn't accurate from a FFS perspective - but can give you clues as to what changes might be wanted.
FaceApp can give you good results, but you really have to try tons of photos, and all different angles and lighting. When you find the one that works best, then consistently do that.
Like others though it gave me confidence in the beginning, but I stopped after they swapped out one of the females for another in the app. I looked so much closer to the old female.
Now instead, I use my real picture and practice with digital makeup so I can use it as a guide to apply real makeup. My Avatar is from Pretty Makeup, although I look nearly identical when applying real makeup now too. If only my hair would step up!

It seems to be better at converting male faces to female ones than vice versa.
I tried it once; made me look like I was 45, 100 lbs heavier, and that I'd spent the past 8 years in jail lol.

LOL. That's funny :)
oh god - I just found out about this app from reading this forum 5 mins before typing this, downloaded, took photo and put the female filter 1 on, - burst out crying ( for good reasons) ... normal reaction?

Yes, very normal. I've always hated pics of me, but this one made me smile wide.
All I do with my pics is crop them. Everyone here works so hard at living their lives as they see fit that I wouldn't feel right flaunting a pretty picture that isn't me.
Yikes, I look scary with no hair! [emoji79]

Yes, it is. At least it was for me. It's a very powerful thing. I wonder if the creators know what they've done to (or for) us.
FaceApp, combined with a few other factors that all came together at the same time, is the reason I started my transition after fighting my dysphoria for 50 years.

I have played around with it. I'm not too sure about the algorithm they use as it's ok but can make some serious errors!
I took a few different photos and picked a couple I was ok with, then chose the female option, then fed the female ones back through and selected 'hollywood' Here are a couple of mine, sadly a world away from reality but fun. ;D

Wait a sec hold the phone! I just tried FaceApp's "Would you date the opposite gender version of yourself?" and . . .

Yes correct. I guess to "
specify gender" I'd 'ave to get the app on my phone am using desktop "demo mode" only. Must be slanted toward FtM(?) cause every pic I try comes back same >:(

This is a VERY interesting question. I would totally date the male version of myself. I guess that's pretty messed up but wow. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

No way would I date the male version of me!
I'm told he had some major issues and could never be truly happy. I'll leave him far behind!
Later son!

It can't be that because other girls are using it to go from male to female. If you're not getting it to go from male to female then it means the app is reading you as female in your photos. I have a bunch that did that early in transition. I don't know accurate it's gender detection is but take it as a compliment. Have you started HRT?
FaceApp can be kind of fun. I've played around with it a little bit. I have found that it sometimes does some really weird things depending on which angle my face is seen from, especially if I have my glasses on. The best results I have had that didn't look weird and distorted was from a mostly side view with my glasses off.
I just tried to make me into a guy again. It works only with a beard, and I never had seen myself with one like that in the face! It did not change much of my facial features, just superimposed a slightly brownish/blond beard on top of it!
Handsome guy, I have to say! ;D

Nat ;) Comp taken! That pic is from HS years so taken just prior to starting Premarin, circa 1975/'76 because know I stopped in '83 when father got me a union job with the airlines. lol Company medical doc knew dad well so
*extreme embarrassment*, probably said something to him but not me!
Oh Well! Do know if an angled pic the 'ai' also does rotation, tends to straighten it out. Surely the long hair confused it to begin with?
My avatar picture is a result of Face App. It has changed my face sufficiently that I'm comfortable putting it on the web. I'm not "out" to anyone but my wife. I'm not going to transition to female. I will always present as male. Hence my desire to not publicly out myself.
Yes it is a picture of a beautiful woman. But reality doesn't work that way. Nor would I ever look that good in real life. I would need a ton of makeup and a very good FFS. Neither of which is ever going to happen.

Strange, FaceApp makes me look younger but it never alters my pictures in any way that it would make it hard to recognize me. I mostly use the hair coloring and makeup filters. My Skype avatar is a picture made with FaceApp and the first reaction of my ex was: "Did you dye your hair blonde?" So clearly, she recognized me :)
I haven't tried faceapp in a while.
So I thought I would download it again, give it a shot.
It's not letting me upload attachments (I'm still new here), but it's not bad. Not really that much of a stretch. The output basically looks like me. Or maybe my favorite auntie in her heavier days. It's little smoother. In faceapp world, I apparently have monster cheekbones. They're big enough in real life, lol. And the blond hair ain't bad. Hadn't even thought about that.
