Title: GNRH blockers wearing off early
Post by: Megan. on March 04, 2018, 03:51:49 AM
I'm on 12 weekly GNRH jabs to block my T (Decapeptyl). I'm finding that after about 10 weeks my libido is starting to increase and I have a more 'male energy' - for want of a better term. I'm going to ask my GP to get my T levels checked shortly before my next jab.

Has anyone else experienced similar with these types of medicines?

Yes, definitely. In fact if I used to have a blood test later on in the 12 week period (say 10/11 weeks) I'd be able to tell my the GP / psych whether the testosterone would be up or not. You can just tell. We spoke about having the 12 week shot every 10 weeks instead as my body seemed to cause it to wear off quicker.

10 weeks seems to be about the same for me, I'll be talking with my GP...

I've changed treating teams (my old psych retired annoyingly) so I think I need to raise this issue again myself. It's not even just libido, I just feel difference, less at peace, can tell the testosterone is back up again at the end.

Ive been on Lupron for my blocker for the last year and a half, and have been working with my Endo to find the best schedule. Seems i can ride it for about 5 months before I feel it starting to wear off. And yes you just know, I told my Endo when I needed my next shot and after bloodwork had to agree with me.

Hi Ladies,

I just want to give my 2 cents on this since I am also using a GNRH Agonist.

I am from Canada and I am using Suprefact (Nasal Spray). If doing a daily dose will give you peace of mind I suggest check with your Medical Practitioner if you guys have it in the UK.

I have been on it for almost a year and it work wonders for me :)

Take care.
