Title: MTF - Hips and muscle expectation
Post by: Initama on March 09, 2018, 09:09:31 AM
Hi,

i'm planning on starting HRT before my 24th birthday and i've been wondering what expectation i should be pointing toward.
my measurments are 36-35-37, i've been a gym rat for around 8years and i'm pretty much muscular in every way (a little chubby in the upper body, but fit around the hips.

i was also wondering about changes around the hips, i don't think my hips will widen anymore due to my age, well maybe a few cm, but i was thinking this morning about the rotation of the hips. i've read on the internet that hips often rotate to make the butt look bigger and higher ( that's my actual fear, because i have a long upper body and smaller legs) ( i do have a muscular butt with no fat on it though)

Should i expect a shrink in the rib cage, waist and the hips due to muscle loss ? (internal muscles)

Thank you.

Hip rotation is another word for bad posture.  You don't need HRT for that.  In my experience, if you don't work out and at the same time don't eat to gain fat then your hips will shrink along with everything else.  You can expect your upper body to get smaller all over but it takes a while, more than a year, before it becomes really noticeable.  If you are currently working out and stop, the change may come a little faster, but it will happen either way.

On hip rotation.  If you do deadlifts in the gym then hip rotation is simply the same way you position your hips and back for a heavy lift.  So if you want that look just walk around like that all the time.

Are you sure my hips will shrink ? i don't have alot of muscles at the sides of my hips, i can feel the bones there, they are actually larger than my rib cage.

i've been working for 8years but almost stopped 8 month ago (1/2 times a week) and completely stopped 2 month ago.

Should i continue excercice while on hrt ? weight lifting for booty and cardio ? should i exercice my lower back aswell ?

My hips shrank a lot from fat loss alone when I started losing some weight and running.  Part of the circumference of the hips is the muscle and fat on the rear.  As for exercise, what I'm doing now is powerlifting with an emphasis on heavy deadlifts and back squats.  Two things have happened.  My butt and hips have gotten larger and after three years on HRT without testosterone I'm a lot stronger than before HRT with high testosterone.  That last part surprised me.

One other thing.  If you look at some pictures of female athletes that are in good condition you can see that while the do have hips they are not nearly as pronounced as the general population.  The reason is that today most people are excessively overweight and are carrying a lot of fat.  If you want that look then you'll either need to gain a lot of excess bodyfat or get surgery to enhance your hips.

After 4 months on HRT there has been change in my hips, but it looks a bit funny, because left side has gathered a lot of additional fat and has a nice curve and the right side is still the familiar male shape.

I actually don“t have dysphoria for my hips, because it makes me laugh when I look at my hips from the mirror, it really does look funny and shows through clothes also.

is there any ratio bust/underbust ? because my underbust is about 37" and bust is 41" (muscular though), if i squeeze the underbust, its around 35", should i expect anything under that ? hips are a bit wider than my underbust though, around 1" in width (no fat/muscle on hips)

waist is 35" but i'm pretty sure i could easily hit 30" due to a layer of fat and muscles

The ratio of bust to underbust is the cup size measurement and there is no set standard.  Your rib cage measurement may get smaller.  Mine shrank by over three inches.  It depends on how much fat you have around your upper torso if you later lose weight, the size of your back muscles, primarily your lats, and how much you work out those muscles in the future.

Deborah you do look great!

Initama you may still gain some pelvic widening but that is really hard to say. Your bones may or may not be fused by your age. Estrogen will tend to make much of any fat you gain start to add around your upper legs and rear end. If you stay with the same diet and same amount of daily calorie usage you wont see any addition happening. That whole subject of pelvic rotation isn't exactly what some think it is. Some say that estrogen relaxes the connective tissues and allow the pelvis to tilt. That's not really the difference between the average female and male pelvis though. Its actually the difference in the angle of the sacrum to the ilium bones because of the joint shape.

In the end, if you put weight on it will eventually tend to "end" up there.  :D Pun intended.

When I went for a bone density test I asked if my pubic symphisis had closed and the nurses checked it out and were like, "Nahh, but all your other growth plates have."

So even if you've stopped growing, there's still hope. Remember that not all girls have big ol' hips!

It's quite unlikely you'll experience any bone growth, but there should be rotation and there will be fat redistribution

In the 8 month span of my taking hrt, my band measures 1 inch less, same with my waist.  My hips have gained an inch with proportional thighs.  Becoming a pear 🍐
