Title: Hi - I'm Michelle
Post by: smart_michelle on March 10, 2018, 03:38:32 PM
Hi - I'm Michelle , not quite full time but getting there!

As I haven't got a profile image yet as I've just joined, I'm 5'2'', size 14 (top), 10 (waist), shoe size 5.5 (UK sizes), brown below shoulder length wavy quite thick hair, love long skirts and dresses, leggings and tunic tops and cardigans! (purple and black quite a lot, some red and white tops, and a couple of lovely wool winter coats I have been wearing a lot recently!)

Probably a very typical story, started dressing aged 8 ish, got caught, got scared, got confused for many years until coming out to my now wife aged 20. With the internet was able to speak to and eventually meet other transgender people, and occasionally went out on an evening or shopping etc. Came out to my children about 5 years ago and they've been so supportive.

A lot has happened in the past few weeks, I finally plucked up the courage to tell my parents (aged 44!) and, despite my worst fears, it actually was fine! They still love me and will support me!

I have been volunteering in a charity shop for a few weeks now as Michelle, but now that I am out to my parents I have been able to be spending much more time as Michelle and have told quite a few people now, who have all been so positive and supportive.

I am hoping to change job soon and go completely full time. I spoke to my GP late last year (although I have spoken to a psychologist a few years ago when dealing with other issues) and she's been great, and I will be catching up with progress on a referral soon.

Had my hair done in a more feminine style this week, was treated so well at the hairdressers, have had a job interview and another one next week, done lots of other things as well.

My aim is just to have a completely normal, everyday life as Michelle, and to be honest my experiences to date have been just that, I've had conversations with RG I would never have had as a man too! (I have always preferred female company anyway) I try my best to blend in and have been working on my voice a lot.

I'm a mum, daughter, and wife, and once I change my job I'll be changing my name and title  - so I can legally be a Mrs too!

best wishes
Michelle x

Hi, Michelle. Welcome to Susan's. Slip your shoes off, get comfy and stay awhile.

Your story and mine are similar but not entirely as typical as you might guess. Not even guessing the extent of my dysphoria, I came out as CD to my future bride very early in our relationship; I loved her with all my heart but didn't want to hide anything that could derail what I hoped would be an eternal love affair. Our daughters have known Susan all their lives and wife and daughters were totally supportive throughout all my changes. Yes, our relationships changed but Love has prevailed.
