Some of the replies in the Fries thread inspired me to ask: Where do you get the best ice cream shake?
I was at the Shake Shack a couple weeks ago, their shake was so thick it completely collapsed the straw. It was like a glass of ice cream. Really chocolaty ice cream! ;D 8)

A wider and stronger (thicker construction) straw is what is needed for thick shakes.
Using a soda straw for a thick shake is unsatisfactory.
Harveys makes their shakes with Nutella. They are very good

It wasn't a soda straw, and it looked up to the task. This shake was thick! ;)

Interestingly, the widest and strongest shake straws are often found at the shake making robot machines, often found in gas station stores.

I don't know the last time I was in a gas station store. They have shake robots?

Not all, but some gas stations. I am thinking of the f'real shakes. Go to Freal .com to find locations. You tell the machine how thick or thin you want the shake. Much better than typical pourable machine made fast food shakes.
Steak and Shake has good made to order shakes from ice cream.
For faster food, Arby's or White Castle has thick shakes from their pourable shake machines.
Unfortunately, White Castle uses cheapo straws and their thick shakes are frustrating to consume.
Even their thicker shakes straws are unsatisfactory.
Arby's uses much better shake straws, although their shakes are not as thick as White Castle's.
However, you cannot beat their shake price of $1 between 2-5 pm seven days a week, a great deal.
Home made shakes are usually much better than what you get at restaurants, but you have to take the time to make them.
Ironically, Wendy's used to have great Frostys. Some time ago they wanted to get into shake business and I am convinced that their once supreme and thick Frostys were made far less thick and I will never again order one as they reminded me of cheapo fast food shakes. Frostys used to be best enjoyed using a spoon. You can use a good straw now.

Baskin-Robins, Steak and Shake, or any one else who takes real ice cream and adds milk and puts it in a blender. Thick or thin, it makes no difference. Just tell the person behind the counter how you want it made.
And don't forget the whipped cream and the cherry on top!
Agree with the OP, I coincidentally also had an excellent shake at the Shake Shack a few weeks ago. [emoji16]
Baskin Robbins great too, Mint Choc Chip shake, yum!

If you're ever in Minneapolis, go to Burger Jones and get the Elvis Shake. Sooooo goooood!
Every double-double and fries should come with a Neapolitan shake at In n Out.
I finally had a shake from Five Guys tonight. I got a salted caramel one with bacon in it, very good!
In the Pacific Northwest Burgerville serves amazing shakes. I like the Mocha Perks and the Chocolate Cherry when they are in stock. I wish they still had the super size ones as the Chocolate Hazelnut had enough calories for two days. The chains footprint is not large, but they do serve some of the best chain fast food. Burgerville.com for those wanting more details.
Also my booty shake puts all those other milkshakes to shame. And I'm for damn sure picky about what girls I let in my yard. Boys and devyls aren't invited ;-)
