Hi,
I've been on T for almost 2 years now and I've been struggling with BV for over a year. I've been taking all the antibiotics and probiotics that I think exists in the world, I've been going to tons of doctor's appointments, I feel my body is getting a resistance to antibiotics at that point. The BV is still here and keeps showing up in the samples taken from my gynecologist.
I was wondering, and this is my question,
Could it be linked to the T and its effects it has on vaginal tissues? has anyone here got that issue, how did you solve it?
I've even tried the local estrogens pills you have to insert in your V for menopause (I'm not having menopause, I'm on T and im 26 anyways, I just figured out that it it might be the T this could have help, but no).
helppp
Thank you
xx
I can see how T could be connected. It does dry you out and could therefore effect the balance of your microbiome down there.
I had this issue before I started HRT, when I first became sexually active. The solution ended up being no longer using lubricated condoms or other commercial lube. For whatever reason, the vast majority of lube, even the widely lauded "natural" stuff like Sliquid, lets the bacteria have a field day. I can still use coconut oil in moderation, fortunately, but whenever I try something else I end up making a trip to the gyno. Since I've gone years between ill-advised lube trials only to have the infection reappear the very week I use lube, I have to assume that's really the cause.
Not sure if this applies to you, but it may be worth a shot if you've exhausted the standard tips you see everywhere.
