Title: Preparing for grs
Post by: SailorMars1994 on March 12, 2018, 04:26:14 PM
Ok so basically the good news. My dr is sending off my papers today to Montreal for GRS. This honestly has made me feel much better after a stressful day. My question is what do you have to do in advance for preparations? Thanks!

Have someone lined up to be with you after surgery.

Congratulations!

Do you play video games? I'm going to be bringing a Switch to my SRS.

I actually don't play video games tbh xD. I'm a lame girl. Well actually that's not true! I love my Super Nintendo and N64!! (90s girl through n through) but doubt I could bring those with me! Maybe I should get into the portable stuff xD!!

I just curious for list of things because assuming recovery is 10 days or so I'm gonna be real bored watching the paint getting more dry xD

You will need someone to drive you or move luggage. There are woman that do it themselves so it can be done. You can pay for porter service and uber. I am going to use uber to am operation in April and have a ride home. I did that for my BA and I did that sort of for my VFS.

GCS, you will need pee pee pads to sleep and sit on, pads for your crotch, a donut to sit on and very comfortable lounging cloths. You can make meals and freeze them ahead of time. You will need a mirror and dilators (check what the surgeon provides). Get the lube recommended by the surgeon. Mine recommended surgi lube water based.

Books to read and or entertainment. I was flat on my back for 3 weeks then had the bed rest thing lifted and I went to work. I saw my doc weekly for 3 weeks after GCS and a total of 13 times post gcs for my vagina. I have issues.

Make sure you eat protein and I recommend collagen daily, 1 scoop in warm water.

Oh, Vaseline, gauze, B6 and Arnica Montana oral. Do not take anything that thins the blood 2 weeks prior to GCS. Make sure you get your hair removed with time for the skin to heal afterwards. I started electrolysis 1 year in advance and had 6 sessions and was done 5 months before gcs.

I don't have any suggestions, in fact I'm going to be taking notes on the suggestions you get.  I just wanted to offer my congratulations!  Very happy for you!

I'm stockpiling books and building a retropie system. It's a raspberry pi micro computer (it's a pocket size Linux computer) that has software that lets me play just about every game console game ever made for the classic consoles.

You can even get super Nintendo controllers with USB plugs on them that plug right into the thing.

I'm actually pretty stoked about it. Roughly $100 US and I can rot my brain with all of the things my parents refused to let me have as a kid.

Your surgeon will probably have a list of stuff and preparations prior to surgery. Sadie has compiled a good list and you should probably be able to find it somewhere around here on Susan's. I recommend spending a few months getting into as good a shape as you can. Recovery is taxing and the better fitness you have heading in the easier it will be when you have tough times.

And congratulations!
