Just curious about the trans news lately on an increasing amount of disturbing news about how transgender people our viewed and it affects on your transition. Does the good news tend to offset the bad news.
Sad about the bad news.
Glad about the good news.
Grateful about myself not having been in those situations.
Stories about abuse (or worse) make me cry. Stories about systematic oppression make me angry. Stories about progress make me happy.
None of them really affects my transition. It is going ahead no matter what, as fast as I can wade through the red tape. I do stop and remind myself how fortunate I am to be living where I live and have the neighbours that I have.
No real effect personally, but I hate coming across ignorance in all forms and can't help offering corrections so there are some sites I would never go near because the ignorance is through the roof and across the board, and I'd be doing nothing but writing clarifications, offering fuller information, and generally becoming stressed. Not just on trans issues, but everything from politics to particular subjects.

same here
Many of those stories give me pause for thought. In the long run, it has no effect on my life, so I can just keep on keeping on.
The negative news is disheartening but I mainly put it down to ignorance or bigotry.
I think these stories will always happen but hopefully less often.
I believe we are on a gradual road to acceptance.

I've cancelled trips to the USA because of it.
Like Lady Sarah, it has no direct effect on my life like making the fish stop biting or rainy days lol But seriously, I am fairly active politically, and I view a lot of news thru a political window. And that in general makes me sad and angry. Which further spurs my activism. It shapes how I vote, who I campaign for, what type of rally's/marches etc I participate in, what groups I associate myself with.... And of course, it affects how I attempt to educate. hth

I might be a bit too sensitive. But whenever I see negative things about us, it breaks my heart and I feel really discouraged.
For some 50 plus years I basically "Could not allow" negative trans stuff to affect me. My armor had no chinks. No way anyone could even suspect me as being...."One of Those".
Post taking on the trans-beast for real... it bothers me Big Time
I voted 'a great deal.'
Good news makes me so happy. When I saw Playboy make Ines Rau a centrefold last year and now they're nominated for an LGBT award.. that made me smile for days.
When I hear of other transwomen getting murdered (one that got stabbed 119 times) it makes me so sad, nervous, worried and most pertinently I feel scared for my own safety in the future.
