Title: Has anyone experienced this?
Post by: mako9802 on April 04, 2018, 08:43:34 AM
I have been on HRT since September 2016 and injections since January 2017.  I can see changes in my appearance they  are subtle but definetly There.I routinely get called miss or m am I would say about 50 50 even wearing mens clothing.  My thing is sometimes when I look in the mirror i see more male sometimes more female looking has anyone experienced this?  It is like my features seem softer...I know I am probably just beating my self up...  This whole journey I am on is so exciting but also nerve wracking at the same time.  Its like on one hand in am excited and on the other hand I am like wow this is really happening.

I think it happens for about everyone. My current theory is that with the fat redistribution in areas of the face, you get the softer appearance, but in other areas you where the fat hasn't or won't accumulate that we still carry a similar reflection from that angle, and we see our all too familiar face. However, the fact is that it has changed from multiple angles. It's just the angles that catches our face with the solid bone structure that you see the old you because it is familiar.

Yes, with three years HRT it happens to me more often than not.  I think that although we see ourselves in the mirror all the time and have trouble seeing them the slow but cumulative changes are pretty significant.  Add longer hair and you get gendered correctly most of the time regardless of anything else.  It also leads me to believe that FFS may not be needed for many or most if they just give the HRT time to work.

I have this too. It can also change throughout the day. I think it depends a lot on how hydrated and moisturized my skin feels that day and the lighting. This is the reason why I'm getting FFS next year so I can always see a woman.
