Hey! :D So thanks to a lot of soul searching I think I have come to a conclusion and I'm pretty sure I want to begin HRT, but I just have no idea where to go from here, do I go to a GP? or a therapist first? I live in Ballarat and getting to Melbourne or the other surrounding cities fairly easily, where would you suggest I go? Thanks :3

Daisy: If you have trouble finding a therapist or counselor that can deal with transgenders you might want to start with your GP to get recommendations and referrals.
There are lots and lots of Australians here on Susan's Place that can advise you ... you posted in the correct topic area... Australia. If you have to post again you might put Australia in you Subject Line, and surely you will get more results.
If you still have any difficulties please message me.

Thanks, I'll head down to my GP and those links were awesome, I'll have to try and see when I can make an appointment or something :D and also sorry about that I didn't even think about that :D I just modified the subject line, and I'll have to keep that in mind for next time :)
Hi Daisy,
I just looked up doctors in Ballarat and found this page https://www.genderqueer.org.au/genderqueer-in-ballarat-no-problem/ referring to Sound Psychology Ballarat. Dr Madeline Fernbach specialises in "Coming to terms with being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex or questioning" so it might be worthwhile seeing her first or your local GP.
Good luck with everything and we hope to hear about your journey.
Alison
If you know for sure you want HRT; then you just need a letter for the doctor, best to be upfront and state that so you dont end up paying loads of money while they decide to diagnose you. If you need to talk about issues then that is different.
Go to a GP and get a mental health plan will allow you 6 visits to a phyc
You can use the letter to change docs and stuff, some doctors require it
Here is a health service map might be of use?
